Chelsea vs WBA - Match Thread - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 19-11-2014

Going to be a fairly short one this week, as I've got loads to get done.  Plus, it's not like we're going to storm down to Stamford Bridge and do what every other team this season has failed to do.

Are we?

After receiving an anonymous DVD in the post entitled "Craig Dawson's Greatest Knock-Outs", Diego Costa succumbs to a few pre-match nerves.

There's everything and nothing to be said about the Newcastle match, unfortunately.  We could have done with at least a point from the game, but an absolute shoot-your-own-foot performance complete with narrow formation and predictable line-up sent us slouching to defeat.  Normally you'd want to bounce straight back from a display like that, but Stamford Bridge has never been a place for bouncing.  The memory of last November's injustice there still hurts, but realistically, we're unlikely to show up there and magically set things right.  I hope for a decent counter-attacking show from the team - similar to the Leicester match if need be - and if we can't nick a point, then at least keeping the defeat respectable and giving ourselves a few positives to take forward and face a wobbly Arsenal will do.

Classic Match

Chelsea 1-3 West Bromwich Albion

Football League, First Division: 30th September 1978

Stamford Bridge wasn't always a plastic bowl full of cringeworthy banners like SUPER FRANKIE LAMPARD and JT IS OUR LEADER, and nor was it a place where points were hard to come by.  In 1978, with Chelsea well on their way to finishing bottom of the league and Albion in serious contention for the league title, it was a largely empty and windswept place where Albion ran riot.  Enjoy!

At games like this when I fully expect Albion to lose - they'll shock us all and win (let's hope anyway)

My head says 3-0 Chelsea and my heart says...

But you never know eh ?

Nope still 3-0 Chelsea

The depressing thing is that if AI makes the changes we are all calling for we will still lose and then he can say "told you so" and revert back to the stale, narrow 442 Sad

There have been quite a few games in the last 2-3 years when we were given NO CHANCE but came away with either a win or an unlucky draw.......Stamford Bridge last year for example?

It's a great position to be in - not expecting ANYTHING at all but actually having players that can contain and also those who can hurt any team on their day.
Who knows??

RE: Chelsea vs WBA - Match Thread - WBA-Josh - 19-11-2014

I think it is best to play the same team that beat Leicester because that team should be able to contain Chelsea enough. Even if we lose, the score can be kept down by the hardworking midfield with the outlet of S & B on the counter.

We can then unleash the BEASTS OF DOOM on Arsenal's defence.

I just pray Varela makes the bench, forget spending £10m on Ideye - Varela was the player I was most excited about out of our summer signings.

RE: Chelsea vs WBA - Match Thread - Squirrel Regis - 19-11-2014

Yep, even if we do get beat it would be good to see Varela make a start. News coming from the club last week seemed positive with Chelsea game suggested.
Far too early to write Ideye off. Give the lad a chance and some games under his belt.

Head and heart say at least 3-0 Chelski. However I`m backing 2-1 Baggies. Ever the optimist. DD Rolleyes Rolleyes

My worry is that that might be the half time scoreline.
