West Brom's record signing Brown Ideye this afternoon pledged to silence his critics and ruled out a move away from The Hawthorns after a tough start to his Albion career.
The £10m summer recruit hit back at comments from fans on social media questioning the club's decision to smash their transfer record to sign him from Dynamo Kiev and insisted "I have never been a flop".
Ideye is yet to score in the Premier League and failed to even make the substitutes' bench for the recent games against Leicester and Newcastle after an ineffective Capital One Cup outing at Bournemouth.
"It's too early to start thinking about transfer or loan so I am here to give my all and to fight," said the 26-year-old Nigeria international.
"I am here to fight for my space or a role in the team.
"I don't think there is a problem with that.
"A lot of people are writing on my Instagram and Twitter page saying 'you're s***' or 'you're not worth the money'.
"You can't criticise me, I've not been playing!
"How can you criticise somebody who has not been playing?
"I have found it difficult but people can't criticise, pull me down or have a gun at my head for not playing.
"I don't think that is fair.
"It makes me stronger and makes me want to bounce back as quickly as possible.
"I know the money spent for me to be here but I'm not even talking about the money.
"I just want to show the world and everybody that I can do it.
"I have been doing it since the first club I played in Europe and I have never been a flop.
"You can ask all the clubs I have played at. I have always been one of the best in the club so I don't think I will have problems here."
Since moving from Nigeria to Europe in 2008, Ideye has scored regularly for Neuchâtel Xamax in Switzerland, Sochaux in France and Dynamo in Ukraine.
But he has struggled to make his mark in England so far with head coach Alan Irvine admitting he had never seen Ideye play live before his arrival.
"I'm not surprised about that," said Ideye. "He may not have seen me play live but other people that brought me here have.
"They know what I can do for them to spend such an amount on a player.
"To spend that you need to know what a player can do. I wouldn't go to a market and buy a laptop and not know anything about it.
"I'm low that things are going this way for me right now, but I don't see why people have to criticise somebody in this way.
"For me, I'm not worried about it as everyone has an opinion. I just have to prove my worth and I can't do that sat on the bench or not being in the squad."
I'm firmly of the view that he deserves a chance, and it's saft that people are slagging him off on social media, but sadly predictable. Some proper gorms out there with more broadband than sense.
