i grew up following football in the early 70`s(yes i`m old)
and apart from motd(or the old sunday show called star soccer...anyone remember that?...good old Hugh Johns)
football back then was played on mud
got took to my first game in 74 home against chelsea 0-0 as i remember
no perimeter fencing if you were brave enough you could sit almost on the pitch and the only risk was being hit by one of those horrible leather balls.
players were paid naff wages but played the game for the love of it not for a big fat pay cheque
fast forward.......
along came the overpaid and over-rated prima donnas that we now call football players.
"i demand £300.000 a week "
well us as fans get to fund this
ticket prices go up
gone are the days when a family could afford to attend games
football?
dont exist any longer as a sport
a business that just wants to make more and more money(not a bad thing)
but when it denies the hard working everyday joe from attending games on a saturday then lets call it quits
