Poor Scotland U17s v Portugal: beaten 2--0 in the UEFA Championship
#1
I watched most of this match that was played in Azerbaijan and it was startling to see the huge difference in physicality and technical ability. Portugal dominating events from start to finish and the young Scottish players 'trying to keep the score down' - a very depressing watch!! Thumb down This Scotland team just looked like an average juvenile side with so many weaknesses exposed by a much stronger Portugal U17 team that had various players on the books of Benfica, Oporto and Sporting Lisbon. I'd take three of these Portuguese youngsters for Hibs development squad immediately and expect them to be in Hibs 1st team fairly quickly!!
They were previously beaten by Belgium as well but it's good experience for the Scott Gemmell's U17 Scottish lads. However, I do wonder whether most of them have any chance of making it at the highest level of pro footie!! Rolleyes

It seems to be a trait with Scottish kids, being physically inferior to other nations. And the added problem of not being coached properly from an early age adds to the issue.

Too many fish n chips, not enough steaks Cooper? Wink
Some of the young Portuguese players just looked so superior in size and ability and it was an eye opener to see that they were aged under 17 years of age! Rolleyes I think we need more immigration in Scotland to blend in indigenous Scots with Poles, Dutch people, Belgians etc and change the future genetic profile of our kids - that might help lol!
