Why was an inexperienced L1/2 ref put in charge of such a big game ?

Huh

Why was a ref from West Sussex (Brighton) put in charge of a game between their promotion rivals ?

They were asking for criticism for any (innocent or not) mistakes  Doh

Why is there no right of appeal against a second yellow sending off ?

I can understand no appeal against a single booking because everybody and his uncle would appeal but for a double booking that right should be there.

Why is there no panel (as in other sports) to look at dubious decisions like this ?

FFS they have a dubious goals committee to decide who scored a goal as if its important in the big scheme of things  Doh If they've got time to look at who should be credited with a goal surely they've got time to look at more important things  Doh In fact, the more I think about it, that sums these administrators up  Angry

What does the 4th official actually do ?

He will have seen that immediately like the Leeds episode at our ground.

When will we ever get video referrals ?

Never, it would slow the game down  Whistle

And by the time (to pinch a phrase from RU) the old farts get round to doing anything FF will have served his ban and we'll probably have dropped some points  Angry plus the points we could have had at Hull  Angry  It was the last minute at 0-0. Their CB would have been off and we would have had a direct free kick well within FF's range.

To answer a couple of your points.

There is a panel that meets after each round of matches to study appeals etc. It is just that they are not allowed to look at double yellow cases.

Video referrals are getting closer as the new FIFA President wants trials sooner rather than later.

Exactly MS Thumb up It annoys me so much that wankers can sit in Ivory Towers and dictate such rules.

No right of appeal went out of fashion long ago in every other trade Thumb up

There shouldn't be a right of appeal for everything that occurs during a game, but if a straight red can be appealed then a double yellow "red" should also have the same option. But there should be a review of ref performance after every game and while some should not ref again this should not be the aim. Just like footballers train every day to keep up their fitness and to improve their skills, then refs should receive more ongoing training as a result of their performances and situations they find themselves in. For starters everything they say during a game should be recorded, if it isn't already, and this along with video should be used to teach them.

Well, who is ready for Toytown on Saturday? Smile

Don't know why, but I have a feeling it's going to be a real treat!

Tim Robinson was being fast tracked towards being part of the new Professional Group of referees for SBC next season. It could be that this incident might stop him getting on that full time list of referees.

I notice that he double yellowed a Newport player last night.

There's that self righteous indignation I was talking about. Doh

If he was being fast tracked then he knows someone or is already in the boys club. He is clearly learning nothing nor does he wish to after reading Crawley V Newport's write up

Newport manager says the second yellow was harsh.. Seems he was being a Homer again too

I'm telling you there's no smoke without fire.

Well, it's something to keep an eye on that's for certain.

Charlie, are you sneaking the match thread up at bedtime tomorrow? Laugh

I can actually see some points in our future, Colin is the gift that keeps on giving. He say's he bought his crash helmet so anyone that goes do feel free to throw objects at him. Wink

2nd yellow was for obstruction apparently.
