THE MATCH - FRIDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 2016 7.45PM KO

After a disappointing week its a good thing we get an easy game this time around!!! Angry  This one will be about as tough as it gets for us this season, right at a time we need to get a result to get us back on track!!  Hull are top of the table and have certainly looked the best equipped to get one of the auto spots but are they unbeatable??  Maybe, just maybe this week may actually be a blessing in disguise and will see us lose any complacency that might have been there for our last 13 games.

This will only be our 49th meeting with Hull and our record is very good at W20 D17 L11.  Our away record against them is pretty good, standing at W6 D10 L7, with the last 6 games shared at 3 wins each!!  Our last game at the KC Stadium saw a fine 3-1 win in January 2013,  a season where they got promotion to the Prem and the game was live on Sky, so we do have a history of beating them on tv when they are good.  Our meeting at S6 earlier in the season saw us draw 1-1 with Forestieri getting our goal.

THE ROAD AHEAD

New section which will look at what we can maybe expect for the rest of the season, but from a perspective of the division and others teams rather than necessarily us.  This game lets take a look at the playoffs.

After the euphoria of our start to 2016 and seeing us get within 6 points of the top 2 a lot of the talk surrounding us both with the fans and some media started to talk about the auto spots as being doable.  Obviously they are still possible, but I think its fair to say the top 4 are probably currently better than us, so for now lets focus on the  playoffs and securing our spot in them.  So I did some research on what it will take to make the playoffs but instead of looking at the points totals for the 6th place team I have looked at the totals of the 7th place team, as this is what we have to beat.  Over the last 10 years this is what I found:

Highest 7th place points - 78 : Last season when Wolves missed out by on GD.
Lowest 7th place points - 67 : Wolves again, this time in 2005-06 but this time they missed out by 8 points.
Average Points of 7th place teams - 71.3.

So it looks like we need 72 points to give ourselves a good chance of making the playoffs, a points total that would have seen us finish 6th in 6 of the last 10 years and possibly one other where GD would come into play!!  So on that basis if we win just our remaining home games, of which we have 6, we would reach this average requirement!!!!  Of course the 7 away games are likely to decide our fate, or at least have a huge say in it!!

THE LAST MATCH

I think its fair to say we put in a good performance against QPR, but it was one of those days when a missed penalty and some dodgy refereeing contrived to see us draw a game where QPR hardly had any chances!!  I think if we played that game 10 times we would now go on a 9 game winning streak against them!!  So lets write it off as a bad day at the office and now some pressure of expectation might be off us and lets move onwards and upwards!!

OUR TEAM

Can't see CC making many changes, but we know Forestieri will be straight back in after his suspension, I assume for McGeady but maybe for Wallace.  Hutchinson has to get fit at some point, lets hope its for this one because like Forestieri we definitely miss him.  Big question is where will we play him, midfield or defence??  He could definitely replace Sasso and play alongside Lees but he could also come back into his defensive midfield role, probably for whichever winger loses out to Forestieri coming back.  Either way we need him back for this game and the run in!!  Will we also see Joao back in for a starrt, its been a while now or will Nuhiu start with them swapping after an hour or so??

WHO'S THE BASTARD IN THE BLACK

Ref - TIM ROBINSON
Assts - Robert Jones and Mark Duncan
Fourth Official - Eddie Ilderton

The last game obviously saw the 4th Official taking over and he definitely was no friend of ours!!  Maybe MS will give us the skinny on both the ref and the reserve bastard in black just in case!!!

There's no court of appeal for being muppetted. You'll have to do your time jacko. And by the looks of it, it'll be solitary confinement as imre's not been muppetted this week. so far! Whistle Whistle
