More on the FF red card.

The ref from Fridays game has been demoted to League 2 for tonight's games, poor old Newport & Crawley.
Nothing great will ever be achieved without great men, and men are great only if they are determined to be so. For glory gives herself only to those who have always dreamed of her.

He had already been given the game at Crawley before Friday's match but has since been given a game at Notts County on Saturday.

Sadly this is the case, though he has been given a second L2 game to officiate to keep him out of the way. I'm hoping to see some action, as Maddix states.
This is not punishment. He still keeps his job. It's no different to when celebrities and TV/radio stars say or do something unethical/inappropriate. Then they're reduced from public view for a few months until everyone's forgotten about it subsequently followed by their return!

My eyes are on the FA, and so far allowing someone whom even top referees are calling a "disgrace" is still plying his trade.

When something stinks like shit, look no further than the FA, and on a broader scale FIFA

Ref has his demotion to ref a few L2 games. I don't forsee any immediate benefit to Wednesday or rule changes happening this season.

This complaining while fully justified is about as useful as pissing down your leg - immediate relief and about 5 mins of a warm feeling but then it disappears.

Retribution against the referee for making a mistake is pointless. Two things need addressing.

1) Fairness & Equity meaning that the yellow card is quashed & FF isn't punished again when clearly the victim in this case. He has already been punished by not getting a free kick, Hull City getting a free kick & getting sent off.

2) Re-training and coaching of the referee to ensure that he doesn't make mistakes like this again.

Both these issues should already have been addressed by the FA.

True, Washington.

It's good to vent and get it out though, it's a cathartic process Big Grin

I can only disagree in the sense of this being about vengeance on the referee. At best he was horrendously incompetent and applied a cognitive bias. At worst he cheated. Is the truth somewhere in between?
Either way there should be standards to which officials are held accountable. Zero accountability leads to utter indignation & indifference with regards to applying law, imo. "Go away out of sight for a bit" teaches the referee nothing and still leaves us Fcuked over.

Though I think we're essentially saying the same thing I do believe we're coming at from opposite angles

If the FA effectively said this was a terrible decision, you need three months retraining before you can referee at this level, that would help the referee and at least make the football fans out there think they are doing something.

Quashing the second yellow card is an easy matter as it has happened a few times before.

My initial anger at the ref lasted about 10 minutes and was then directed at the FA/FL  Angry

Why was an inexperienced L1/2 ref put in charge of such a big game ?

Huh

Why was a ref from West Sussex (Brighton) put in charge of a game between their promotion rivals ?

They were asking for criticism for any (innocent or not) mistakes  Doh

Why is there no right of appeal against a second yellow sending off ?

I can understand no appeal against a single booking because everybody and his uncle would appeal but for a double booking that right should be there.

Why is there no panel (as in other sports) to look at dubious decisions like this ?

FFS they have a dubious goals committee to decide who scored a goal as if its important in the big scheme of things  Doh If they've got time to look at who should be credited with a goal surely they've got time to look at more important things  Doh In fact, the more I think about it, that sums these administrators up  Angry

What does the 4th official actually do ?

He will have seen that immediately like the Leeds episode at our ground.

When will we ever get video referrals ?

Never, it would slow the game down  Whistle

And by the time (to pinch a phrase from RU) the old farts get round to doing anything FF will have served his ban and we'll probably have dropped some points  Angry plus the points we could have had at Hull  Angry  It was the last minute at 0-0. Their CB would have been off and we would have had a direct free kick well within FF's range.
