Well, we accidentally got through to the next round. If Fulham had any kind of cutting edge we probably would have lost. Not sure how much Wildsmith knew about that point blank save but the Fulham player shouldn't have given him a chance really. Wildsmith also spilled a low ball across the box that caused a bit of a scramble but played pretty well other than that.

Sasso was generally pretty good but completely mis-timed a header in the first half that lead to a great chance for McCormack that he hit straight at Wildsmith under pressure from Palmer. Thought Palmer played pretty well without being spectacular as did Pudil. Banana or Lee would have been my pick for man of the match. Some of Bannan's corners and long passing were terrible at times but he still looks like quality most of the time.

Joao was really quite poor today and playing him alongside Sougou didn't work at all. Nuhiu made an impact when he came on and took his goal well, but not as well as Bannan. What a strike! Fulham must be sick of playing us, especially as we keep scoring screamers against them.

Hope we get another big tie at Hillsborough. I know we don't want any injuries but what's the point of watching your team unless you get to enjoy the big games when they come round.

Joao is a kid getting bullied at the moment. I do sympathise and have patience with him though. It really is tough stepping up a level at his age and it can be daunting playing against men when you are still basically a kid. The toughness kicks in at about 25 or 26 in my experience Cool

Then the legs go once you've mastered it Doh

Regarding the outage with WW during the first half today I just got the following email from Rob O'Neill:

"Yeah I rang streamUK at half time and they told me that they had experienced network problems for other clubs too today and I have retweeted some of the clubs I saw having problems on my Twitter timeline rob_phoenixmp

Unfortunately today the feed in the first half was working for some people and not others. I actually recorded the entire commentary at home and didn't have one drop out.

It sounds like a capacity server loading error or something.

StreamUK should apologise but bet they don't."

I do think he is doing as much as he can do but it is the Football League who decide where the contract goes and what format it is delivered in so until we get in the prem we cannot do anything on our own.

Seems Everton and Sunderland had the same issue as us, so being in the Prem may not even guarantee better service if they use the same company to provide the service!!

(09-01-2016, 22:50)consilio Wrote: Wildsmith 8 - One superb reaction save from point blank range and an all round top performance.

Palmer 7 - Supported well down the right and is getting stronger with every appearance.
Loovens 5 - A bit of a calamity again.  I'm pretty certain he's playing with an injury as he was in constant contact with the management team and appeared to be limping.   Way off the pace and awful on the ball.
Sasso 8 - Quality again.  Has impressed in every game I've seen.  Make it permanent please DC.
Pudil 6 - Did nothing wrong but didn't attach with any purpose.

Wallace 6 - Flitted in and out of the game
Lee 7 - Excellent in possession driving us forward but why won't he SHOOT!
Lopez 4 - Rubbish, outmuscled.  Not convinced by him at all
Bannan 9 - Man of the match by a mile.  Wonder strike, even more effective when played centrally in the second half.

Sogou 6 - Three outstanding crosses into the box.  Joao was nowhere to be seen.
Joao 4 - Very poor.  Consistently gave the ball away, stopped chasing and his head dropped.  Nowhere near the finished article and it clear to see why he doesn't play every week.  CC was furious with him for 75% of the game.

Helan was excellent off the bench, as was Nuhiu.  They can both be excellent impact players in their own right.  Nuhiu won every header and scared them to death.  Their CB's had handled Joao and Sougou with ease before he came on.  Helan terrorised them with his pace and pushed them back as a team, making it easier for us to defend.

Semedo was solid enough.

Found out some very interning developments about the future of the club and DC's reign so far today.  More to follow when I get home later........

Not wanting to argue here consilius !! but you said that lopez (ive always known hes a bummer Smartass )was class once ? do you on the sit on the plop or the south stand Laugh the rest of the ratings i was liking though  as loovens is robert and bannan is class Thumb up

Glad I've had you on tenterhooks pei Wink

A couple of bits.

Straffords plans to develop the ground have been assessed and approved by DC and his advisory team. He plans to increase the ground capacity to 45k, as soon as Premier League football is confirmed. The first phase will be the £3.5m re-development of the Leppings Lane end, that will start this summer as it is such a poor state he can't wait for the Premier League.

If/when we get promoted money will have to be spent on widening the tunnel as it doesn't meet Premier League regulations, improving the away dressing rooms, the referees room, press room, learning suite and concourse areas. He spent 45k this summer on the home dressing room to bring it up to Premier League levels. The training ground also had a summer revamp but requires further modernisation.

We had planned to buy a site on Penistone Road that the academy would use however be planning deal has been rejected.

He admits to making two massive mistakes when he took over -

1. The committee. He has quickly realised that it didn't work. There were issues between Roeder and CC and DC was left furious regarding the Lachman deal once CC told him he was nowhere near his first team plans. All of the committee have now gone and the club will continue to operate without one. A new finance director is the only position we are looking to hire.

2. A huge corporate error on DC's part. Has anyone else noticed that 75% of the executive boxes are empty on match day? That's because before the start of this season they were available at 22k per year. Last season we had sold all but one of the 20 odd boxes. This year we initially sold 1! DC reassessed the pricing policy and decided to raise the annual charge to 40k!! After some wranglings with the businesses involved he agreed to lower the price to 30k, but only if they committed to 3 year deals. As such, only around 6 of the boxes have been sold, costing the club over 250k this season. To make them appear sold DC now let's the players use 6 of the boxes for free and has taken 2 for his own family.

Wednesday never made a realistic bid for Blackman. It was announced in the media to up Derby's bid and improve the financial deal for Reading where DC's brother is a significant shareholder.

He has told several prominent figures at the club that he will spend "whatever it takes" to realise his dream of owning a Premier League football club.

You can calm down now pei.

Forgot to answer your point about Lopez.

I said earlier in the season that he "had class" in his game.

This is still the case. He's technically excellent but he looks more like a fish out of water with every game in the SBC. He wants too long on the ball and doesn't drive us forward with any purpose. He appears much more suited to low tempo, continental football.

How have you found all this out Consilio? Sounds good if right. I liked Strafford's original plans for development. The Leppings Lane end needs sorting a.s.a.p. as its an eyesore. I would have personally leveled it a year or two after the disaster. That end is a constant mill stone and reminder; for the club to move forward the stand needs to go. Fed up of seeing it every year when reporters stand outside for the annual '96 'memory jog and ritual police bashing by The Pity City.
