Whats the odds that datm goes into meltdown and those that love to see town lose come back out of the closet just to rehash what they always say when we lose?

Today's starting line up was certainly not expected. I don't think DW got it wrong, I think he's still trying combinations out in competitive situations. Today's combination seems to have had a pretty dire first half in particular.
The guy seems very committed, confident and cool headed and I hope he finds the right blend soon as the fixtures tick away. I'm sure he'll have spoken to DH about requirements in the January window. Be good to see Whitehead back. I'm impressed by Wagner's clear desire to win matches [risking defeat] rather than setting up for a draw [also risking defeat] ie. aiming for 3 points rather than 1. As a legendary Town manager said, "Aim for the sky and you'll hit the ceiling, aim for the ceiling and you'll hit the floor.' UTT

But like you said he's trying combinations but he's learning even more about the players he has for the time being. He'll be seeing how each can/should be used. He's probably/hopefully seen the same issues and positives in terms of players as we have or the semi sane of us, but in a lot of cases it may be also be needs must in terms of team selection ie hudson playing because of experience and the captains armband he holds. Cranie in midfield because we have no other holding mid atm etc. if he has seen them and dean sticks to his word about the backing in the jan window then i fully expect the glaring problems to be addressed and some if not all the smaller problems to have the same attention.

I hadn't realised that was one of the presets now, Theo. Just customise it to what you want.

So Junior treat me to an early christmas prezzie today. Brentford match tickets. Love going to footy with my lad. Something I wish we could do much more often, but that's another story.
So first half, well what can I say? A worse performance I can hardly remember. To a man we were shocking. Wouldn't start to single anyone out for special attention. They were all simply as bad as each other! My mind wandered back to Watford away two seasons back. 4-0 if I remember correctly. Don't think a sole big man up front is what we want to see, regardless of who the big man is. Don't think we had a genuine shot at goal in the whole of the first. Second had to be better. If only to regain a modicum of respect. And so it was, worlds apart. The introduction of Wells for Ish, but more importantly, Dempsey for Holmes, changed the whole balance of the game. When the early second half goal went in from Lolley, there was definitely an amazing comeback on the cards. Until “that” penalty! Now it was down the other end, but looked soft to say the least. And after studying Sky footage, it was clearly a very good tackle by the youngster from Leicester! Killed the unlikely comeback in an instant. Still had chances for Nakki, but wasn't going to be his day. I can understand boos to some extent. But only directed at those who do not give everything they have at their disposal. Not at those who do, but simply aren't up to it any more. Happens to us all as time catches up. Did anybody else who was there, notice that as Hudson left the pitch applauding the support, then holding both hands up, in acceptance of a personal poor performance, and beating his hand on the badge on his chest. Genuine guy. He knows the score. Doesn't need any reminding. Boo if you must. Each to their own. It's not for me!

Well, lets start with that first half. Categorically and I am not hyperbolising when I say this that that was the WORST town performance in one half that I've ever seen. Hudson at fault for all three goals who made Lynch look like titus bramble. I actually hope carayol and miller never play in a town shirt again after their performances today, they were an absolute disgrace and Carayol should be sent back to boro immediately. Carayol did absolutely nothing, wasted possession, shite final ball and left chillwell horribly exposed time and time and time again, couldn't tackle for toffee and constantly out of position. Holmes tried but looked overwhelmed with the pressure and only had crainie to help him. Boy do we miss Whitehead and Ward big time. I'd even be tempted to play wallace at centre back ahead of hudson right now. Smith once again never knew where his marker was, the basic requirement of a fullback and was atrocious too. Subs immediately made impact and dempsey was outstanding. Suits wagner's style of play and was a constant threat. Pato my MOTM as he was our only creative outlet in the first half and constantly looked to break between the lines. Nakhi also outstanding and deserved two goals. The ref went from being quite decent to an absolute joke and a disgrace. The penalty he gave was a shoulder charge at worst and he gives a pen against chilwell but when chilwell gets done in the exact same way the other end, nothing. blatant handballs they committed were dismissed and there were countless other things I could mention. Lolley had a great game too and deserved his goal. I'd start Wallace at CB next game with Lynch, play Crainie at RB and keep Chilwell. We cannot conced 4 goals every game and in the manner we did. It was utterly spineless and gutless. We currently once again have half a functioning defence and Tommy Smith and Mark Hudson just simply aren't good enough. I love mark as a leader and he has been a great servant but he's out of his depth. On that showing, dempsey has to start every game as does Nakhi, get rid of miller in Jan and give Wagner money to invest in a Striker to help Nakhi and a proper RB. Another day it could have been 6-6 as they had one clear one-on-one and several other clear-cut chances. They are a quality side but we also made them look like Real Madrid. Serious defensive work needed next week in training. Goals wise if we play the right players I'm not as concerned if we get Nakhi firing, keep Carayol and Miller away from the first team squad and rotate lolley, scannell and bunn. Fans were outstanding and really got behind the team. Still positive but such a frustrating day. Some of that may sound harsh but if you were at the game you'd feel exactly the same. Also the end of the day was slightly marred by a couple of paralytic "town" fans yelling purile and homophobic language at some of the brentford players. Anyone in the upper tier would have heard of it and I made a note to make my feelings known about it. We're better than neanderthal stereotypes to hurl at southern teams players. Must-win (when isn't it now) game at Preston on Tuesday.
Appreciated Hudson's omission at the end. I want him to do well and get his form back but father time has sadly caught up with him. Respect him as a player and leader massively but he's reached PC point of no return I'm afraid with that performance.

Must-win (when isn't it now) game at Preston on Tuesday. Easty. First goal it was Holmes who was turned in the box. Not Hudson. Second goal, yes Hudson was holding his hands aloft claiming offside, rightly in my opinion. And it was young Chilwell who was on the near post and didn't deflect the ball away for the third. Not Hudson. I am just as critical as the rest of his overall performance. But lets be fair, there were others equally, if not more culpable for the goals conceded!
