Looks like Oscar is away. Club not taken up option of 12 month extension on current contract. And couldn't come to an agreement on a new one, obviously on lesser pay I would assume.

blew hot and cold during his time here, obviously injuries had something to do with it, but when he was fit and in the team he quite often failed to impress, he played well against qpr the other year and had a few decent performances last season, but overall i think southampton had our pants down over this deal.

What this means now is that we DEFINITELY need another central midfielder as opposed to before where I would have liked for us to have another one alongside the current crop but now gobern's gone, that problem is amplified

it could also mean that CP wants the likes of billings and tronstad etc to start making the step up, but i do feel we will add an experienced head into the fold which would help the side develop.

i see feruz at chelsea is available for loan, i know he is a striker who is supposed to have searing pace, qpr and burnley are both looking at him, would be the extra asset in the strikeforce which i feel we need. we have vaughan who when fit is like an all round striker, miller as a big guy and wells as a poacher, we could do with a pacey striker or a work horse striker just to round it off

Despite Wells being top scorer and getting 13 last season, he is not our 'poacher' yet. If he was a poacher he'd have 25 goals. Spurned so many chances last season it was getting a bit of a joke. Anyone remember the two missed penalties?

i call him the poacher because he is a striker who offers nothing else outside of the box on most occassions and is expected to put the ball in the onion bag

New signing: Dean Whitehead. Thumb up

And apparently Reece James within the next 48 hours.

A good start if they pull them both off.

Good signing. Great experience including premier league and good game management. Don't know much about his playing style apart from the fact hes quite versatile and is normally a holding mid. Will it be him and hogg competing for holding roles or has he brought him in to help bring through likes of billing and tronstad?

Think his role is primarily to tie us over until billing et al are deemed ready. I presume he and hogg will compete for the holding role. But its his experience that will be most useful
