Only saw the last 25 mins or so but Brunty seemed to be REALLY puttting the effort in, and enjoying not being shackled at LB!!
As has been said, good point against a team who seemed to sense they HAD to win this one; great to be safe; let's enjoy watching the final scramble for points BELOW US!!

Points per game under TP is 24 points in 17 games = 1.412
Over a season, and with a fair wind behind us, that's well over 50 points.

Hopefully now we have achieved safety we will be allowed to play some attacking football in the last 2 games and get a real taster of what's to come next season, like TP played at Palace.

He has no excuse now he's done the job he set out to do when he took over, as he Huh

Anyway I'm really happy that we are gonna be Premier league AGAIN next season.....

All together now SH*T ON THE WANDERERS, SH*T ON THE WANDERERS TODAY Whistle

Without getting carried away and sounding like a Villa fan about how well we may do next season:
With 1.412 points per game over the season it would place us in 9th place and right behind Swansea
8    Swansea City    1.51
1.412
9    Stoke City    36    1.39

Missed a chance to leapfrog Palace today with them losing to Man Utd, but still, mustn't grumble at a point away at Newcastle.

Not true!  We scored open play goals against West Ham, Burnley and Crystal Palace.  Craig Gardner hit his screamer right under our noses at Palace.
During TP's tenure I make it nine away league games of which we won two, drew five and lost two.  Not bad for a side plunging down the league when he arrived.

Well, TP will only have the same players that he has had here since he arrived AND.......   we will be playing Prem champions Chelsea and Arsenal, who could well finish runners-up but, I agree, come on, TP, show some ambition!   Whistle

Gardner's goal was from a corner. Both Burnley gosls came from corners. Pulis had just been appointed but wasnt in charge v West Ham.

I suppose it depends where you want to draw the lines and split the hairs on what you call "open play".  For example there were both Albion players and Palace players involved before Gardner hit the ball from twenty five yards.  Either way, if we are set up to play by successfully maximising dead ball situations as part of our current game, what's the problem?

Gardner scored from a half cleared corner. I'm just saying that it would be nice to actually threaten from open play - scoring any goal is good but our total reliance on set pieces sums up our great attacking intent. It does explain why we play so many central defenders though.
