2025 Summer Transfer Window Thread
....and me, Drewks.
I trust our new Owners, and think they've got the brains to rebuild the Club gradually (rather than gamble). If I'm honest I'd rather not get promotion this season (as unambitious as that sounds) 'cos fans don't enjoy getting stuffed every week.
(Should have added that 1 Year's Prem money is almost worth 1 Year's Hell!!!)

Personally, I feel that STABILITY is the the absolute key for us as a club at the moment. As others have said, it may mean we have another year or two where balancing the books will lead to mid table 'mediocrity', but I applaud our new owners and RM for their commitment and medium /long term vision - hopefully then we will still HAVE a club that is full of character, purpose, and able to challenge to be where we all think we belong. Thumb up Big Grin

Drewks, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I hit 70 this year and want my 62 years of supporting the Baggies to continue for what’s left for me Smile. For that we need a financially sound and well run club, and I fully trust the current owners to deliver that.
My issue is not with the sale of any of our players as I fully appreciate the dire financial situation that Lai generously left us; I’m just somewhat concerned that the particular sale of Fellows is undercalling his value. I’ve never thought he was worth the £20 million previously being speculated but neither do I think £10 million is best price, even accepting that it’s all profit. Neither do I buy the argument that his form has dropped off.
But, for all that, I’m delighted with the owners and the coach we have and am more optimistic about the future of the club than I’ve been for such a long time

Alfie Gilchrist in for £2m from Chelsea as the Furlong replacement.

Not too sure what to make of this. Not seen much of him myself, apart from when he broke through at Chelsea. But the general conscientious from what I've seen posted from Chelsea and Sheffield United fans - where he spent last season - is that he's not very good. Only 21 and was rated highly at Chelsea a few years back, so lets hope they are wrong and he develops into a decent player.

Fans on a Chelsea site are saying he really puts a shift in but lost his edge halfway during the season after injury. They were surprised at how low his transfer figure, was expecting it to be in double figures. Let’s hope he finds his mojo again.

According to the mail (so take it with a pinch of salt) we’re in talks with Léo Scienza as a replacement should Fellows go to Southampton (now confirmed). Scienza has also been linked with Southampton over the the last few days so not sure what all that adds up to.

Samuel Iling Junior said to be undergoing a medical later for a season long loan from the Vile. Hope he’s better than all the other loans we’ve had from them!

Falkirk said to be after Alex Williams.

I think it's only a loan move, though, and not a permanent transfer

Why would we sell our star winger for probably less than his real value and then bring in a winger from a prem club on loan, which is probably going to take a fair chunk of that transfer fee (his salary estimates are £2,340,000 a year) and he is only on loan? On top of that he is a left winger, surely its a right winger we need? It would be nice to understand, but as long as those in charge do, I suppose. Whistle Big Grin Whistle

Iling-junior completes loan switch to Albion, can play on both wings as well as full back and wing back.

Hope the loan fee doesn’t eat too much into the Fellows give away transfer fee.

Hope he can add balance and quality depth to the squad.

Loan deal being worked on for left back Charlie Taylor from saints, mention of a medical to complete deal before 7pm deadline.

Charlie Taylor joins from saints on season long loan.

Albion trying to seal a last minute loan deal for a dingle striker, Sasa Kaladjzic, they signed him for £15 million but has had three knee injuries …… will he agree? Will it be done in time? Will he be another sick note? Whistle Whistle Whistle Every season we sign one, who knows Doh

Devante Cole’s contract cancelled as he leaves to join Darren Moore (big Dave) at Port Vale on a free.
