For what it's worth, a big WELL DONE to Brentford! Well deserved, IMHO, for their great sustained form over the last 2 seasons (apart from freezing in the run in last year).
Sadly they'll probably come straight back down but it's great to see a new name and another smaller, less fashionable one in the PL.

Getting away from Football, I think banning Ollie Robinson from the English cricket team is over the top for what a teenager has said over 10 years before.

As usual people have had their say, including the PM, for something he said that harmed no one. In a democracy where Free Speech is allowed, this smacks of our becoming 'a big brother watching' country by not being allowed to say what we think, or what we say.

I could go on about the wishy washy ethics of this country 'trying to look good by doing the right thing' but won't, except to say the ECB should reverse their decision.
Anyone have thoughts on this?

Agree totally BBob. Didn't know about the ban till I read your post but I think it's 100% wrong.
All our mainstream organisations - the BBC, political parties, national sports teams, etc etc are bending over backwards to show how "liberal, modern, totally inclusive" they are, and, to be honest in my view it's got to the stage that it puts me off the organisation AND the message that they are trying to portray.

I think Ollie Robinson’s comments were both racist and mysogynistic, and completely unacceptable. However, the guy has expressed his complete regret for these remarks, would seem to be genuinely remorseful and, within context, these were made several years ago when he was a teenager and probably an arse. I don’t see what value banning him achieves, except to solve a selection problem for the next Test when they’ll need to play a spinner.
However, I think the ECB were right to address it, I just think the punishment was too much.

On Ollie Robinson, lets get real, yes he says I apologise and states he did not mean the comments and how he is not racist. Can anyone show me any celebrity of any type, who when this type of thing comes out some years later puts up their hands and says " yes I said and I meant it". Of course not it would be the end of their career, it also means you can not believe them when they say how sorry and repentful they are.

In other news WTF does Joey Barton have to do before they ban him from all aspects of the game for good?? His latest escapade, causing serious facial injuries when he pushed Daniel Stendel in the back causing him to fall into a structure, after chasing him into the tunnel at Barnsley.

He was over 18 when he made those tweets so was an adult at the time and should have known better. The tweets are terrible and he deserves the negative attention that it has brought onto him. With that being said it was 8 years ago and the punishment does seem to be severe.

I also have no time for his statement because he has to come out and apologise whether he means it or not.
