Hibs 4-2 winners after penalties. Better late than never, but we've a long way to go to be considered contenders. Everyone else in the Cup will think they can beat us.

Well done Hibs.

Looking forward to the game where we are on easy street for the last twenty minutes or so without any pressure and we control the game. My old heart cannot take it. Big Grin

The main point is we are through to the semi-finals again. So well done Hibs!! Thumb up I can't believe the guys made this game so difficult at 2-0 and 10 mins remaining??? IMO Ross again missing the tactical change, a desperate one, by the M'well manager in moving to "three up top" - Ross having no gumption to change it and wreck their game plan in the process!!!!??? He did the same thing v Hertz in that Scot Cup semi that Hibs really should've won but we were not two goals up!!! No lessons learnt since then eh in what I classify to be a "big game" Rolleyes Held firm during the ET period and thank god for that. Re the pen decider, delighted that the presence of Macey was "between the sticks" and not Rocky who I don't regard as a pk stopper. The one blip in that decider was Nisbet's crap pen and I must say as soon as I saw it was him taking that 4th Hibs pen, I strongly suspected he'd miss it because I view him as definitely temperamentally suspect in such a testy situation - remember that crucial 2nd half moment in that Scot Cup semi-final when he had the pk opp to "settle Hibs nerves" and botched it!
After that, I'm screaming at Porteous to "keep the heid" and hammer his pk past the M'well goalie (I've taken many a successful pk where a "screamer" of a pen decides it and gives the goalie nae chance!). Porty duly obliged!! GET IN THERE!!! TIME TO CELEBRATE IN TAMSONS!! AWWWWW IT'S SHUT!! Confused Oh well!!
Anyway we're "in the hat" for the semi-final draw and I'll take the easiest draw - hopefully Dundee Utd will beat the Dons tomorrow!! Or the Dons instead TBH - I don't think they are currently that good!

Not to mention Doidge missing an absolute sitter in the 1st half.

Anyways as you say its getting through that counts - Not fussed about who we get next, don't think we need fear anyone.

Yep! I wish Doidgy would stop f###### about with these kinda easy scoring chances!!! These scorned goals by him have continued for such a long time!! His Aberdeen debacle two seasons ago (?) was an absolute farce where he should've scored about five goals v 10 players. This lack of a natural scoring nous has never really left him and no surprise lotsa Hibs fans are clamouring to see Sparky (a natural goal scorer when it comes to putting away easy scoring opps!!) returning to his home base. The only positive note I can add is thank god he does score goals rather than being a total dud.

Will Boyle be suspended for the next round? ........or do the cautions revert to zero again at the semi stage? Rulebook this year seems a bit of a grey area.

If we are without squirrel, Ross may have to think up a plan B, and if we draw sevco I don't think it matters what plan he come up with this season. Doh

4 semi finals in the two cups on the trot...................will we make a final Huh

Yep! Ross only does a plan A. I think we can easily come to that conclusion after past disappointing events when games become difficult. The other thing one can conclude is that he is not a tactical genius. IMO the loss of Boyly will be devastating to our Scot Cup aspirations albeit to injury or suspension. We need that good supply of scoring opps. I agree there can be an alternative that uses our wing backs on a hi-press ploy on both flanks but I don't have any faith in Ross's ability to do that. Losing a very fast player is still a big loss esp when we don't have another similar player to use. Enforcing a tight defensive formation is another option that other Scot Prem teams try to deploy with some success, even with a specific man-marking system if required. Again IMO Ross doesn't have that in his "coaching toolbox". Also is Gogic suspended or does he just miss the next Scot Prem match? I'm assuming he misses the Scot Cup semi-final but note he has been sent off in extra time in the dying secs in a fairly innocuous shoving incident.

Think Gogic misses the semi final as the red was in that competition.

Will miss him as he does a lot of the "dirty" work around the pitch that often goes unnoticed. Sad
