Bloody Hell that was traumatic.
Albion certainly like to do things the hard way.
As said above, it is clear evidence that we need to invest. SB says he will stay loyal to the players that got us there but surely that is just nice words. He will realise, once he has time to reflect, that without investment we will rank next season!

You’re right, Stairs, it will need considerable and targeted investment- unlike Fulham and Villa. I hope our owner gets the message; if he doesn’t it begs the question why he bought the club in the first place

"Targeted investment" is exactly right. So many millions can be wasted, making Zohore look like a minor 'small change' error.
We've done very, very well to go up without massive spending; let's hope we can unearth some young, cheaper gems à la Dan Ashworth era.
I think it's just possible, given SB's connections and undoubted charisma.

Yes SB is a compelling personality and very credible football man. He should be able to attract players to the club.
Especially young talent that can see what we are doing and how it could launch their careers.
I have no issue with young players showcasing g their talent and then moving to a ‘bigger’ club. So long as the transfer fee is available to the Albion to reinvest.

Re SB, I remember him saying that this was a "2 year project". Is that the length of his contract?
If so, THAT should be the first signing of the summer - if he's willing to commit! Personally I can't think of a better fit for us.

well somebody slap me silly with a wet kipper How the hell did we get away with that? Despite best-efforts to eff it up Brentford and Fulham equally choked.
I'm delighted for barnsley however amazing effort and saved our bacon in the process. Our form has been on a steady decline and we cannot escape the fact
we need a goalscorer or two next season as an absolute must. I actually think were pretty good in midfield now we have decent defensive and attacking midfielders/wingers
The defence needs a bit of help but its attackers that must be our priority and I mean premiership quality attackers. But at the end of the day lets enjoy this moment
and dare I say we may yet be seeing a couple of extra derby matches in the prem if Villa pull off the slightly less great escape

I think when it comes to investment we need to strike a balance between strengthening the squad and loyalty to the current squad. We don't want to do a Fulham and also don't want to do a Norwich.
For me we need:
1) An experienced goalkeeper who can become number 1 if Johnstone has a tough start to the season
2) A left footed centre back to partner Ajayi
3) A quality left back who can play every week
4) A defensive midfielder to rotate with Livermore, a Yacob type of player
5) A centre midfield ball player to push Sawyers
6) A right winger to replace Phillips (sold) and push Pereira
7) Diangana
8) A first choice striker with Robinson as his back-up.

Who ever comes in for me they must bring the steely determination and bite we are missing. No matter what position they play in.

Was I glad to get that call at 9.30. Brilliant! I hear comments about crawling over the line - boll*cks! After 46 games if you’re 2nd, you deserve to go up. Thank you fellow Baggies for all the banter this season, it’s been emotional!!
I know the area well, its a nice spot.
Congratulations to you all on promotion.

Johnstone may be a good shot stopper but his command of the 6 yard box is absolutely awful /non existent. Unfortunately this will be exploited non stop in the PL and makes him an automatic non starter IMHO so a No.1 No. 1 is a No. 1 priority!
