WBA vs QPR - Wed 22nd July 7.30pm - Ska'dForLife-WBA - 20-07-2020 It's official: after Friday's disaster and Saturday's deliverance, we are without a doubt the jammiest bunch since Jamelia, Jamiroquai and The Jam played "Jamming" at the Jamaican jam jamboree. To be honest, I'm not sure we even deserve the lifeline that Stoke so generously threw us, but now we've got it, it's on us to make sure we don't throw promotion away a second time. The obstacle standing in our way on Wednesday night is Queens Park Rangers, comfortably ensconced in mid-table safety, though fresh from a 4-3 win against Millwall at the weekend which suggests that the beach is still a few days away for them yet. Their last visit two years ago ended in a 7-1 rout, but I suspect it's going to be a tighter affair this time round, and needless to say, only a win will do for Albion. Barnsley's brave performance at Elland Road and their stoppage time winner against Forest suggests that they'll fight Brentford tooth and claw to avoid relegation, but we can't rely on the battling underdogs to do our job for us. Ordinarily I'm wary of letting sentimentality get the better of good judgement, but even I'm swayed by the calls to let Chris Brunt - the man who won the Championship for us in 2008 with a goal against QPR, having also secured our promotion in the previous game - play a part in this match, even if only as a sub. The one thing you're guaranteed to get from Brunty is the kind of fighting spirit that's been lacking in the last couple of games, because he knows what it means to all of us. It would be the greatest of farewells to a club hero, and a chance for him to write the final chapter he'd want in his Albion career. Beyond that, strap yourselves in for what's bound to be another rollercoaster ride. The world has changed irrevocably in 2020, but some things stay the same. We're leaving it to the last minute and putting ourselves through the wringer, because that's the Albion way, now and forever. Thanks for these great reads all season. 'Jammy' to get this 2nd chance? Definitely. But I'd argue that, being in the top 2 since September, we DO deserve it. Let's hope and pray that we take it. I really think we'll win, and fairly comfortably. Brunty will come on at h/t, clear one off our line then score a 5 minute hat trick. COYB!! RE: WBA vs QPR - Wed 22nd July 7.30pm - Baggievicar - 20-07-2020 I'm going to be (distractedly) in a Zoom meeting from 7.30 till 9 on Wednesday. I may not have the nerve to look at the score - may leave it till the game will have finished. If I do join while it's still going on, and we're winning, I'm going to be thinking: 1-0, worth nothing 2-0, Wembley 1967, QPR 3-0, seen us not win from there 4-0, JOB DONE Keep the (other) faith. RE: WBA vs QPR - Wed 22nd July 7.30pm - Blue Baggie - 20-07-2020 Ska'd you have been amazing all season. Your obviously very well educated and help us lesser mortals enjoy your brilliant enlightening write ups. Always accompanied by complementary pictures, no matter what the subject. I would like to say a massive thanks. BB Almost forgot a nervy 3 - 0 win for us ![]() RE: WBA vs QPR - Wed 22nd July 7.30pm - Sanjay - 20-07-2020 Like others have said, a huge 'thank you' Ska'd for your excellent write-ups throughout the season. It's always a treat to read what you've so brilliantly written. Let's hope the boys do as good a job on Wednesday as you do each and every week. Many thanks and take care mate. RE: WBA vs QPR - Wed 22nd July 7.30pm - St Charles Owl - 20-07-2020 Guys, last week we stuffed QPR 3-0 at their place with only 26% possession!!! They were poor to say the least, if you get your forwards firing on half their cylinders you will walk this one!! Good luck!!
