Top move from Channel 4 to put the full 1966 World Cup final on today with Geoff Hurst and George Cohen doing a watchalong. Obviously I knew there were strong historical overtones to the final at the time, but I hadn't realised just how personal the match was even for many of the players.

Whistle

To my shame, I had to look him up!
I'm 60 today, so can't go quite that far back, but you'd be on the right lines.
Skimming the conversation above, Le Tiss would be in every team I'd ever pick. He came to a wedding I was taking once - I wanted to ignore the bride and groom and just talk to him, but behaved myself. Just.

Happy Birthday Baggie Vic! Are you doing anything special? (Not that you can do anything too special at the moment!)

Thanks, all.
Led a service via Zoom this morning and have mostly slobbed around other than that. Stuffed on cake from one of our neighbours and a cracking takeaway from a local pub.
With the govt saying we can let people into churches (under armed guard and in handcuffs) from next week, life's going to get a bit more complicated again, so this was nice timing.
Doesn't feel right, being 60, though.

Wigan have gone into administration - tough times. I'm sure they won't be the last in the next few months.

Just seen that George Thorne (remember?) was playing for free for Oxford to try and get himself back on track - but has had more injuries and isn't near fit enough for their play-off games. Shame for the lad, and such a waste. Also shocked that he's 27. Where did those years go??? (Old age, i know.)

I wonder if Thorne wishes that he had stayed with us rather than going to Derby permanently. He had a great chance to come back to us after his loan and get into the team ahead of Yacob to partner Mulumbu. Instead he decided to stay with Derby and then had his first serious injury.
