John McGinn - will he make it in the Sky Bet Championship?

It's a different scenario 1Wattie - Aston Villa confirm the deal is signed n sealed! Celtic too late and I'll bet Brendan Rodgers is privately livid re Peter Lawwell's intransigence! Lotsa Hoops' fans also not enamoured with the Celtic board considering how "flush" they are with money.

I agree with you 0762 and,as we have seen tonight, that intransigence has probably cost Celtic a chance of progressing into the group stages of the Champions league. As you point out the club are flush with money and investing in the team may prove costly. Had they offered the same kind of money they paid for Scott Brown I'm sure the club and John would have been happy to shake hands on the deal.
After I saw that John had signed for Villa I thought he probably decided if Celtic were stalling on raising their offer he should go to a club who only took a day to meet our boards valuation of him when they had nearly 3 months and were still pussy footing around.
Celtic fans will now be spouting their bile at John but it should be directed at Lawwell and their board. Scott Brown has only a couple of seasons left in him- they let his ideal replacement go for only a few hundred thousand pounds.

I don't see any 'bile' being spouted at mcginn wattie, he made a choice and it looks like the right one for him. Better money and guaranteed starting place. Celtic had their chance to sort this out months ago, i just don't think they wanted him enough.

We have shown we won't be pushed around by the old firm. Job done.

A loss to the SPL but very pleased he`s not gone to the Old firm

Easily has the capabilities to succeed in the Championship the only worry is other good midfielders have got lost in the pecking order at Villa (Lansbury, Bjarnason) last year on a side which should have strolled that league

Celtic are bringing back Izaguirre when they have Calvin Miller to develop who looks a decent prospect, dont get it-Aberdeen need a LB! Wonder if they`ll get any more than a 32 year old returning from the Saudi league?

hibeejim21,
I have heard Celtic fans having a dig at McGinn because he choose Aston Villa with some saying he wasn`t good enough for Celtic and that`s the reason they stood back and let him go.
You`re right though, it`s about time we stood up to the old firm.

Celtic will be beelin' because Hibs didn't let them trample all over us, like the bigot brothers always try to do. Good luck to John in the Championship, he's easily good enough and will still improve. Villa need someone with 'bite' and they've got him now.
Cabbage is still good for you

I wish John well at Villa he`ll do very well and that`s good for our national team as well. He`s a better player than Scott Brown was when Celtic signed him from Hibs. Their board have just delivered a kick in the whatsits to Brendan Rogers and that might come back to haunt them.
