Ah, I was thinking of the wrong year! Walsall was 1965.

Yes correct Ska'd Walsall 3-1, then Leeds Untd, Coventry 6-1 in a replay and Villa 3-1 in the quarter Finals.
And to answer my own question we beat Villa again 6-1 at the start of the 1966/67 campaign. In fact, in the league cup, we were drawn against and beat the Villa three times over a four year period between 1965 and 1969. Those were the days eh!
