Doncaster Rovers have signed Barrow midfielder Robbie Gotts on a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
The 25-year-old becomes Rovers' first signing since the club secured promotion to the third tier as League Two champions.
But manager Grant McCann said the club have tracked the former Leeds academy product for a number of seasons.
"Robbie is a player we've kept an eye on for a few years," McCann told the club website., external
"He's been excellent at Barrow with what he has brought to that team and I've been a big admirer of him – his energy, him as a person, his bite, his aggression to get after the ball and use it, and his ability to create and score goals.
"He's going to be a massive help for us next season."
Harrogate-born Gotts came through the academy ranks at Leeds before joining Barrow in 2021 and going on to make 170 appearances for the Cumbrian outfit.

Doncaster Rovers striker Billy Sharp has signed a new one-year deal with the newly promoted club.
The 39-year-old joined Doncaster for a fourth spell last summer and scored nine goals in 43 league appearances as the South Yorkshire side won the League Two title.
The new contract will allow Sharp to keep playing beyond his 40th birthday, which falls in February.
"I thoroughly enjoyed this season, getting promoted, winning the league - it all fell into place nicely," Sharp told the club website., external
"I feel wanted here. It's a great dressing room and we're playing a league higher and everyone wants to play as high as they can.
"To be able to still be playing League One football at the age of 40 will be a big achievement as well for me."
No player has scored more than Sharp's 258 league goals in the top four tiers of English football since he made his debut for Sheffield United in November 2004.
He went on to have two further spells with the Blades and twice helped them win promotion to the Premier League.
Sharp, who has won six promotions across his career, has also had spells with Rushden & Diamonds, Scunthorpe United, Southampton, Nottingham Forest, Reading, Leeds United, LA Galaxy and Hull City.

Doncaster Rovers have re-signed goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala on a season-long loan from Hull City.
The 22-year-old returns to the newly-promoted League One club after spending the second half of the 2023-24 season at the Eco-Power Stadium and keeping eight clean sheets in 20 appearances.
"I'm buzzing to be back here - I have a real soft spot for the club; it was a no-brainer for me," the Frenchman told Rovers' club website., external
Lo-Tutala made just a single appearance last season for Crawley Town following an emergency loan move in March from parent club Hull, where he was an unused substitute for 19 Championship matches.
"We're delighted to get Timmy back and huge thanks to Hull City," Rovers boss Grant McCann added.
"We are getting another great character to add to our changing room and a goalkeeper that fits our style perfectly."
