Football is different in terms of consumption, but if you are priced out of it then you will simply stop going and substitute it with something else on a Saturday afternoon, you won't change team and you will still have an allegiance, you just won't go to games. But again, the only teams that can afford to reduce ticket prices to the levels we see quoted are the PL teams, once you get into the EFL and you don't have parachute payments it gets harder and harder.

The one interesting stat among all this though is that attendances on the whole are rising in England, even with the higher prices.

The bubble will burst sooner rather than later because clubs are biting the mouth that feeds them and when people lose interest the attendance's and Sky subscriptions will fall. I only keep their sports for the darts and the cricket and now they've changed the way you can buy it I'll be f'ucking the EPL bit right in the bin  Cool

Eventually Maddix the whole thing is going to implode sooner or later and when it does it will be the fans who will pick up the pieces. Clubs will end up going to the wall as the spending on players and wages will eventually become unsustainable.

Daniel Levy, Spurs owner said as much today with regards to criticism that Spurs hadn't spent any money yet. He is adamant that the current spending is unsustainable.

Maddix, you are right, all this penalises the occasional fan but while ever the fans are buying the STs in the numbers the club needs then that will be the group they reward. I'm always surprised that you don't see more fans sharing STs, you see that a lot over here where prices are even higher. For our company I buy 20 games for the LA Dodgers home baseball games off of an employee whose family buy the tickets for the whole season and then essentially keep the games they want and sell the rest to other family members and now to us. We pay over $9,000 for 4 tickets at face value for those games to give you a comparison!!!
