The officials were shite today
we had two or three offsides given that were clearly not when we could have been in (they had one too), a number of times early on when advantage should have been played and a clear penalty when FF was grabbed by the neck and thrown to the floor by Bellusci as a cross came in from a free kick. Cook should also have been sent off (and possibly Hutch) and the guy who handled the ball on the line in the first goal scramble (harsh, but he did stop the ball crossing the line before Hooper forced it home).
And Hooper's miss in the 7th minute wasn't that bad. The ball took a deflection off the defender causing it to go slightly behind him. Without that he would have scored.
In a way, the hand ball was irrelevant (or should have been) because the error was allowing the free kick to be taken.
I instinctively thought our two early one on one situations were onside despite being well out of line. Why then did a linesman is position get both decisions badly wrong & give them offside? What happened to the benefit of any doubt going to the attacker?
I felt the referee let the game pass him by. He was a late replacement & didn't want to be there. ( He has reffered at Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City & PSG in the last month & was his first game below PL level this season. To some extent, he managed the Cook & Hutchinson challenges consistently. The penalty on FF was clear but the referee wasn't watching.
The penalty for the handball would only be a yellow card because it would not have denied a goal scoring opportunity if we still forced it into the net.
Watching Hooper's early miss on TV and you could see why he missed it. The cross took a deflection which took the pace off the pace off the ball meaning Hooper arrived well before the ball did.

Felt he should have held initial shot but at least he saved the situation, assisted by Sasso. He was the best keeper on the pitch yesterday.

Just like on Tuesday when he missed a couple of chances but ended up getting 2, including the winner. It's something Joao needs to learn if he's going to become a better striker. You can't just score belters and headers. Sometimes you just have to get in the six yard box and fight to get to a loose ball first and knock it in.
Hooper is a goal scorer. He will be worth about 6-8 points more to us this season if we keep him.
