v. What a bloody awful game time. 8:30 a.m. PEI time. Here's some info about the Weeds. The club was formed in 1919 following the disbanding of Leeds City F.C. by the Football League and took over their Elland Road stadium.Leeds United play in white. The club badge features the White Rose of York Leeds United have won three First Division league titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup. The club also won two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups. The majority of the honours were won under the management of Don Revie in the 1960s and 1970s. Leeds lost the 1975 European Cup Final against Bayern Munich and reached the semi finals of the tournament's successor Champions League in 2001. Revie's Leeds United were voted as one of the fifty greatest football teams of all time. Famous Leeds players include Billy Bremner, Johnny Giles, John Charles, and Jack Charlton. Proper nickname: The Whites. But, they have been called many other things.
The current LUFC is owned by the Cellini "family" and is managed by our good friend Steve Evans. Currently 15th in Championship, they lost their last game to Ipswich during the dying moments of the game. Their main striker threat is Chris Woods. New signing Jack McKay may need watching. I don't have all the meetings between the clubs like SCO does, but we drew 1-1 with them at Elland Rd earlier this season, they beat us 2-1 at Hillsboro last yr. But, who can forget that 6-0 thrashing we gave them in 2014?
THE LAST MATCH
We have been riding our luck of late. We were a bit lucky to take all 3 points in the Bolton game. Good to see Hooper scoring a brace. Our old buddy Gary Madine was definitely Bolton's best player and he scored aginst us. Nice lad, our Gary. When he's not beating up his own fans.
OUR TEAM
I'd love to see Bronco Layne spearheading a 2-3-5 formation with Finney and Derrick Wilkinson on the wings, Bobby Craif and Fantham weaving magic. But, I'm afraid it will be something like: Wildsmith, Palmer, Sasso, Loovens, Pudil; Wallace, Bannan, Lee, Forestieri; Hooper, Nuhiu.
