Truro City defender Will Dean has signed a new contract with the newly-promoted National League side.

The 24-year-old, who moved to the Tinners in 2021 after being released by Exeter City, has agreed a full-time deal with the club.

He has been part of two promotion-winning sides, having also helping the club go up via the Southern Premier South play-offs in 2023.

Dean was a key member of the side that won the National League South title last season, making 41 appearances and scoring four goals, including the opener in a vital 2-1 win over Worthing.

"I love my football here and I play my best football here," Dean told the club website.

"You couldn't write it because at the start of the season everyone had us down and out. But somehow, we produced magical things on the pitch because we are a tight group that works hard for each other.

"At the end of the day, that's what has given us success and we pride ourselves on hard work.

"We run hard, compete and do the basics of football quite well. If you have those fundamentals, along with quality throughout the ranks, it is a good match."

Truro City full-back Tyler Love-Holmes has signed a new full-time contract at the National League side.

The 20-year-old made 20 appearances for the Tinners last season having joined in July from Saltash United after a successful trial.

The former Plymouth Argyle academy player is the second Truro player to sign new terms this week after Will Dean agreed a new contract on Tuesday.

“My dream has always been to test myself as much as possible and this has been my dream for ages, to go full-time,” Love-Holmes told the club website.

“Next season you will see a different side to me because I will always want to be out on the pitch.

"Going full-time will be a lot easier for some of the players because there were times last season when we would get back late from games, then have to go to work and then training.

"That will tire anyone out before you think about away trips on Tuesday nights. It doesn't help the cause, but now we will be able to get our bearings in a professional environment."

Truro City goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe has become the latest member of the squad to agree a new full-time deal with the newly-promoted National League club.

The 28-year-old former Torquay United and AFC Fylde shot-stopper joined the Tinners last summer from Taunton Town and was an ever-present as Truro won National League South.

The new deal supersedes the two-year contract he agreed when he moved to the club a year ago.

His fresh terms follow those of Will Dean and Tyler Love-Holmes who agreed new deals earlier this week.

"Next year will be a big step up and the league we are going in will be a lot tougher, but we have a few lads that have played higher, so we will need everyone to move forward to pull through," Lavercombe told the club website., external

"I am really enjoying my football and hopefully I can continue for a long time.

"Nobody knew what to expect when we came back (to Truro), so to have the crowds we have had is amazing. In the tough games, the fans really pulled us through, got us extra points in tough games towards the end of season."

Midfielder Dan Rooney has become the fourth Truro City player this week to sign a new deal.

The 26-year-old former Plymouth Argyle youngster will go full-time after the club's promotion to the National League.

Rooney returned to Truro two years ago after a spell with Plymouth Parkway and has also spent time at Bath City.

Will Dean, Tyler Love-Holmes and Dan Lavercombe have also agreed new deals with The Tinners this week.

"For me it was a no brainer to sign on," Rooney told the club website.

"The last couple of months of the season, I hit some form as I found my position and at the moment, I am absolutely buzzing.

"There is always pressure when your contract is up. But I felt confident I would get a new deal, even though getting promoted means we are going full-time.

"The opportunity to become a professional full-time footballer again is an opportunity that not many people get.

“Leaving my job and going back into full-time football is a risk, but when I weighed things up, there were lots of pros and no cons.”

Truro City have signed midfielders Harry Kite and Lirak Hasani on free transfers.

Former Exeter City and Yeovil Town midfielder Kite, 24, has agreed a two-year deal with the newly promoted National League side.

Hasani, 23, has also penned a contract having left Torquay United at the end of last season.

Kite played 101 games for Exeter, for whom he came up through their academy, before leaving at the end of last season.

His time at the club was affected by injury - he suffered a serious knee injury in 2022 before missing the first half of last season with a hamstring problem.

He returned to action in March after joining Yeovil Town and played seven games in the National League for the Glovers - who will be Truro's nearest rivals this season.

"I think it's a great time to come to Truro. I think it's a great place for me to continue playing my football," Kite told the club website.

"I felt it was a project that I really wanted to get involved in, and I'm really glad to be here.

"I know a couple of the boys that are here. I've played with one or two of them before and played against them as well, so I'm hoping that should make it easy for me to gel and bed in with the group.

"I'm still quite young in terms of my footballing journey, but I'm hoping that with the strides and what I've done in my career to date, I can possibly pass a little bit of that knowledge across if the players need it."

Hasani was part of the Gulls side that pushed Truro all the way in last season's National League South title race as Torquay missed out on top spot on goal difference.

The former Gateshead and Doncaster Rovers midfielder scored twice in 35 games for Torquay last season and he and Kite become the first new additions to John Askey's squad ahead of the club's first-ever season in the fifth tier.

"I think it's the next best step for me in my career," Hasani told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"Torquay had three games against Truro last season, I think in every single one there was barely anything to separate the teams.

"I learnt Truro is a well-drilled team, tough to beat, always in the game and they impressed me.

"I spent two seasons at Gateshead, so I've played a fair few teams in the National League, and I'd like to think I've had the experience of playing these bigger teams, so it won't be anything too strange for me going back up into the National League next season."
