Tinners News - themaclad - 18-06-2025 Truro City defender Will Dean has signed a new contract with the newly-promoted National League side. The 24-year-old, who moved to the Tinners in 2021 after being released by Exeter City, has agreed a full-time deal with the club. He has been part of two promotion-winning sides, having also helping the club go up via the Southern Premier South play-offs in 2023. Dean was a key member of the side that won the National League South title last season, making 41 appearances and scoring four goals, including the opener in a vital 2-1 win over Worthing. "I love my football here and I play my best football here," Dean told the club website. "You couldn't write it because at the start of the season everyone had us down and out. But somehow, we produced magical things on the pitch because we are a tight group that works hard for each other. "At the end of the day, that's what has given us success and we pride ourselves on hard work. "We run hard, compete and do the basics of football quite well. If you have those fundamentals, along with quality throughout the ranks, it is a good match." Truro City full-back Tyler Love-Holmes has signed a new full-time contract at the National League side. The 20-year-old made 20 appearances for the Tinners last season having joined in July from Saltash United after a successful trial. The former Plymouth Argyle academy player is the second Truro player to sign new terms this week after Will Dean agreed a new contract on Tuesday. “My dream has always been to test myself as much as possible and this has been my dream for ages, to go full-time,” Love-Holmes told the club website. “Next season you will see a different side to me because I will always want to be out on the pitch. "Going full-time will be a lot easier for some of the players because there were times last season when we would get back late from games, then have to go to work and then training. "That will tire anyone out before you think about away trips on Tuesday nights. It doesn't help the cause, but now we will be able to get our bearings in a professional environment." RE: Tinners News - themaclad - 20-06-2025 Truro City goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe has become the latest member of the squad to agree a new full-time deal with the newly-promoted National League club. The 28-year-old former Torquay United and AFC Fylde shot-stopper joined the Tinners last summer from Taunton Town and was an ever-present as Truro won National League South. The new deal supersedes the two-year contract he agreed when he moved to the club a year ago. His fresh terms follow those of Will Dean and Tyler Love-Holmes who agreed new deals earlier this week. "Next year will be a big step up and the league we are going in will be a lot tougher, but we have a few lads that have played higher, so we will need everyone to move forward to pull through," Lavercombe told the club website., external "I am really enjoying my football and hopefully I can continue for a long time. "Nobody knew what to expect when we came back (to Truro), so to have the crowds we have had is amazing. In the tough games, the fans really pulled us through, got us extra points in tough games towards the end of season." RE: Tinners News - themaclad - 21-06-2025 Midfielder Dan Rooney has become the fourth Truro City player this week to sign a new deal. The 26-year-old former Plymouth Argyle youngster will go full-time after the club's promotion to the National League. Rooney returned to Truro two years ago after a spell with Plymouth Parkway and has also spent time at Bath City. Will Dean, Tyler Love-Holmes and Dan Lavercombe have also agreed new deals with The Tinners this week. "For me it was a no brainer to sign on," Rooney told the club website. "The last couple of months of the season, I hit some form as I found my position and at the moment, I am absolutely buzzing. "There is always pressure when your contract is up. But I felt confident I would get a new deal, even though getting promoted means we are going full-time. "The opportunity to become a professional full-time footballer again is an opportunity that not many people get. “Leaving my job and going back into full-time football is a risk, but when I weighed things up, there were lots of pros and no cons.” RE: Tinners News - themaclad - 27-06-2025 Truro City have signed midfielders Harry Kite and Lirak Hasani on free transfers. Former Exeter City and Yeovil Town midfielder Kite, 24, has agreed a two-year deal with the newly promoted National League side. Hasani, 23, has also penned a contract having left Torquay United at the end of last season. Kite played 101 games for Exeter, for whom he came up through their academy, before leaving at the end of last season. His time at the club was affected by injury - he suffered a serious knee injury in 2022 before missing the first half of last season with a hamstring problem. He returned to action in March after joining Yeovil Town and played seven games in the National League for the Glovers - who will be Truro's nearest rivals this season. "I think it's a great time to come to Truro. I think it's a great place for me to continue playing my football," Kite told the club website. "I felt it was a project that I really wanted to get involved in, and I'm really glad to be here. "I know a couple of the boys that are here. I've played with one or two of them before and played against them as well, so I'm hoping that should make it easy for me to gel and bed in with the group. "I'm still quite young in terms of my footballing journey, but I'm hoping that with the strides and what I've done in my career to date, I can possibly pass a little bit of that knowledge across if the players need it." Hasani was part of the Gulls side that pushed Truro all the way in last season's National League South title race as Torquay missed out on top spot on goal difference. The former Gateshead and Doncaster Rovers midfielder scored twice in 35 games for Torquay last season and he and Kite become the first new additions to John Askey's squad ahead of the club's first-ever season in the fifth tier. "I think it's the next best step for me in my career," Hasani told BBC Radio Cornwall. "Torquay had three games against Truro last season, I think in every single one there was barely anything to separate the teams. "I learnt Truro is a well-drilled team, tough to beat, always in the game and they impressed me. "I spent two seasons at Gateshead, so I've played a fair few teams in the National League, and I'd like to think I've had the experience of playing these bigger teams, so it won't be anything too strange for me going back up into the National League next season." RE: Tinners News - themaclad - 02-07-2025 Truro City striker Tyler Harvey has signed a new contract with the newly-promoted National League side. The 30-year-old was National League South's Player of the Year and top scorer last season as his 27 goals helped fire the Tinners to the title. The deal, which Truro say is ‘multi-year’, will see Harvey play full-time for the club and is the third new contract he has signed in 18 months. The former Plymouth Argyle youngster has found the net more than 150 times in over 250 games for the club since first joining in 2017. His time with the Tinners - he had a brief spell at Bath City in 2019 - has seen him help the club secure two promotions as well as reach the first round of the FA Cup for the first time. The news comes on the same day that fellow striker Jaze Kabia left the Cornish club to join League Two side Grimsby Town for an undisclosed fee. "It has been a few years since I was a full-time footballer, but it was something the club had to do, once we got to the National League," Harvey told the club website. "I've helped get the club to this division, so it is only right that I stick with it and see where we can get to. “It is always something different at Truro, but this is something that is absolutely positive both for me as a player, and the club overall. "I'm familiar with the routine and demands of full-time football and this will help me and everyone at the club. We will have more touches of a ball every day, we'll be fitter, stronger and that is only beneficial. "Due to the step up in league we are taking, anything that can help us get an extra per cent here and there in games will also help us too." RE: Tinners News - themaclad - 03-07-2025 Truro City midfielder Billy Palfrey has signed a new contract to stay at the National League South champions. The 27-year-old has agreed a two-year deal with the club after scoring three times in 39 games during City's promotion-winning campaign. The Cornish-born former Plymouth Argyle youngster joined the club from Plymouth Parkway in the summer of 2023. It is his second spell at the Tinners having spent two years with the club when he first left Argyle in 2017. He is the second player this week to agree a new deal after top scorer Tyler Harvey confirmed new terms at the Truro Community Stadium. "I couldn't really say no to full-time football when the opportunity presented itself, but it is because of everyone's hard work last season that we are in this position,” he told the club website. "As someone who has lived in Cornwall all my life, this means so much. “Cornwall has been waiting for a team to have success like Truro have. The closest professional club is Plymouth Argyle, where I had to start out. "To be a proud Cornishman and to go professional with Truro is brilliant and although next season is a journey into the unknown, I think we should be confident. "The club is going in the right direction and with the togetherness we had last year, coupled with our incredible support, there is no reason why we can't have another good year." Truro City forward Dominic Johnson-Fisher has signed a new full-time contract with the National League side. The 21-year-old scored twice in 36 league appearances for the club last season as they won the National League South title. Johnson-Fisher, who has agreed a two-year deal, moved to the club in January 2024 from Isthmian League side Whitehawk. He is the third player this week to agree a new deal after top scorer Tyler Harvey and midfielder Billy Palfrey confirmed new terms at the Truro Community Stadium. "In terms of my football, it is very much onwards and upwards and I am just waiting to prove myself further," Johnson-Fisher told the club website., external "Coming off the back of last season, things can only get better for me and that is what I am here to show." "I can't wait to get my boots back on and whilst you never really know what is going to happen in a season until you are in it, there is just pure excitement for me to get going really." RE: Tinners News - themaclad - 09-07-2025 National League newcomers Truro City have signed defender Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain on a two-year deal following his release by Kidderminster Harriers. The 27-year-old brother of former Liverpool and England midfielder Alex was a key player while on loan with the Tinners last season as they won promotion from National League South. The Portsmouth youth product scored twice in the campaign and was also an important attacking asset due to his long throw ability. Oxlade-Chamberlain becomes Truro's third summer signing as they prepare for life in the National League, after Harry Kite and Lirak Hasani. "After what we achieved last season, it was only right to carry things on into the new league to see what we could do," Oxlade-Chamberlain told the club website., external "It is almost silly when I think back to when I signed, considering what we went on to achieve. [Promotion] certainly wasn't on my bingo card, but it was a great way to finish the season and then the party afterwards, with the bus parade, was just fantastic." RE: Tinners News - themaclad - 13-07-2025 Truro City have signed AFC Bournemouth defender Max Kinsey on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old made his first team debut for the Premier League side in their 5-1 FA Cup third round win over West Bromwich Albion in January. He has also made the Cherries' matchday squads in the Premier League and has spent the last four years at Bournemouth after joining from Southampton. "I have been looking for a loan for a couple of years," Kinsey told the club website. "Truro is the right place to come and develop and I want to help the team also. "Over the past few years, I have been in and around the Under 18s and Under-21s at Bournemouth since going full-time. "I feel like I am used to football on a full-time basis and ready to make that step in the National League. "There are a few boys at Bournemouth that have come down to Truro and they have spoken nothing but high praise for the club and it definitely appealed to me, coming to Truro, when the option arose." RE: Tinners News - themaclad - 16-07-2025 Truro City have signed striker Luke Jephcott on a permanent two-year deal after he was released by Newport County. The 25-year-old former Wales Under-21 international spent the second half of last season on loan at Truro, scoring six goals in 17 games as the Tinners won National League South. The former Plymouth Argyle forward moved to Newport from Scottish side St Johnstone in January 2024 but failed to score in 32 league and cup matches. "I came in during the second half of last season and I just wanted to find my love for football, which I definitely found, back home with Truro," Jephcott told the club website. "Being closer to home was great and it helped to be part of a great group of players and working for great staff too. "I met with the club recently and I was told about the ambitions and the direction it was going, so I was really excited to put pen to paper. "Since I came back to Truro, I just wanted to play and help the team. To win the league and create history for Truro City is something that I will never forget." |
