RE: McClean Disrespect Scum. RANT. - St Charles Owl - 20-07-2015 He is out in the US representing an English football team, this action puts embarrassment and disrespect on his employers as well. As said before I have no problem with his beliefs, even if I think they are out of date now, but this was neither the time nor the place to make a statement like this!! My Grandfather was killed in WW2 but I would not turn my back on the German anthem or flag and I would be we all know soldiers who were killed or hurt during the Falklnads war but again we wouldn't do this if we were playing Argentina. Too many people on both sides of the NI troubles were killed or permanaently scarred by it all, but most are trying to put it behind them, repsectfully remember what happened and move forward for the good of everyone who lives there, this sort of action goes against that. Anelka's gesture had racist connotations and to do it was a choice made by him to be provocative. This incident has been 'stirred up' by the people who are choosing to be offended and the media, when McClean has actually been passive (20-07-2015, 18:00)BaggyBomber Wrote:(20-07-2015, 17:41)HarryJAllstarWBA Wrote: Would actually be ashamed to be a WBA fan if we got rid of a player because of their religious/political views Ridiculous statement. Innocent people have been killed in the name of Islam, should we not allow Muslims to play for us? RE: McClean Disrespect Scum. Of course McClean is provocative. RE: McClean Disrespect Scum. RANT. - wba_1996 - 20-07-2015 (20-07-2015, 18:17)BaggyBomber Wrote:Did you watch the game Bomber? What about the other 95% of the anthem where he faced the flag with his teammates? Or are we just going to ignore this and focus on the 5 seconds where he bowed his head and prayed?(20-07-2015, 18:08)HarryJAllstarWBA Wrote:(20-07-2015, 17:48)silverbaggie Wrote:(20-07-2015, 17:41)HarryJAllstarWBA Wrote: Would actually be ashamed to be a WBA fan if we got rid of a player because of their religious/political views I watched the whole game and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary from any of the players during the anthem, so does one photo taken in a split second which was jumped on and exaggerated by the press mean we should sack him? I can't quite make out the provocative nature of his actions below, can you help me? ![]() RE: McClean Disrespect Scum. You're missing the point. He chose to stick us with his provocative views. He didn't have to. By his own doing, there is going to be division over his playing for the Albion. No good saying he should just be judged as a footballer, now. The genie's out of the bottle. RE: McClean Disrespect Scum. RANT. - Worldclassalbion - 20-07-2015 why we are all arguing over this twat is beyond me. He's making enemies by his own actions. RE: McClean Disrespect Scum. Couldn't agree more, Worldclass RE: McClean Disrespect Scum. RANT. - BaggieMan - 21-07-2015 Quite right World Class - McCleans a twat of the first order and not worth arguing about. Much better if he packs his little bag and buggers off from whence he came with his tail between his legs. He was and still is, a bit player anyway only likely to cause dissent in the dressing room. RE: McClean Disrespect Scum. RANT. - HarryJAllstarWBA - 21-07-2015 This will be my last post on this thread as it's sad that this has caused heated discussion between wba fans and I see this as such a non-event. He wasn't being disrespectful to Britain, but was respecting his hometown, which still isn't a support for any IRA action or bombing and it is a shame some people seem to think it is. It could have all been avoided if he just turned to the flag in the first place, but he did eventually as seen in 1996's picture, which some are conveniently ignoring. I hope fans get behind him as he is a Baggie now and leave any political beliefs for outside the Hawthorns |
