From what I've seen of him he's definitely got the talent, but like quite a few young players they don't put the hardwork in to earn the footballers lifestyle like the older pros in the game do - it's like he thinks he's made it already. In his defence, while I know the kind of mentality you mean (and Saido does have a fair bit of it), there are far, far worse examples of it out there. We've had outstanding youth players who did a runner from us at the ages of fifteen and sixteen when the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea came calling, knowing full well that they'd have had better chances of breaking through if they'd remained, but they wanted the instant glamour with none of the hassle of actually proving themselves. In that kind of climate, it is marginally to his credit that Saido stuck with us till he came of age, and he has been known to apply himself as a footballer in the past, but unfortunately a few big-time offers seemed to puff his head up, and now he's blatantly never going to be the same player again. Who wins? We don't. He doesn't. The teams that wanted him don't. The national team won't either. Once again, modern football and the horse it rode in on can just do one as far as I'm concerned. So welcome to sportsbabble 'Cherries Fan'. What chance of you adding some content to the Bournemouth board and encouraging some of your fellow fans to join us and develop a little more noise around 'things Premier League'? So welcome to sportsbabble 'Cherries Fan'. The Bournemouth board on Vital Football is usually the go to for me but I'll certainly try and spread the word! |
