Bradford City have signed experienced midfielder Nick Powell after Stockport County agreed to terminate his contract with them.

The former Manchester United, Wigan Athletic and Stoke City player made 45 appearances for County after joining them in the summer of 2023, helping them win promotion the following year.

He is Bradford's 10th signing of the summer transfer window as they look to consolidate their League One status, and they have taken seven points from three games so far.

"Nick's ability is undoubted and he is determined to rediscover the form he has shown many times previously," Bradford boss Graham Alexander told the club website, external.

"It is a deal that suits both parties, and we are looking forward to helping him enjoy his football and show his quality once more."

Powell added: "The crowd here is a massive draw, having such large attendances in League One is a massive pull for anyone."

Bradford are away to Stockport, who say the decision to let him leave was by mutual agreement, on Tuesday evening.

No details of his contract with Bradford have been disclosed by the club.

Portsmouth centre-back Tom McIntyre has signed for Bradford City on loan for the season.

The Scotland Under-21 international has a wealth of experience at Championship level, playing over 100 games at that level for Reading, principally, and Pompey.

He joined Portsmouth's 2023-24 promotion-winning squad halfway through the season, in the January transfer window but played just one game before suffering an ankle fracture that ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

His loan spell at Charlton last season saw him gain promotion from League One for a second successive season, and he joins a Bantams side handily placed in third in their first season back at that level.
