Who knows probably. If we had lost to MK Dons there wouldn't have been all this fuss would there? RE: Could we be kicked out of the FA Cup? - St Charles Owl - 15-12-2014 Snooty is right with this, as we said earlier a loan should mean the player can play in any game in any competition unless it is stipulated that he can't in the original loan documents. That way the need for subsequent paperwork is removed. As for the ruling, if they are not kicking you out of the competition, then just fine you the winners prize money for the second round, let the result stand and all can move on. Voiding the game is such a manipulation of the rules to suit someone, except no one thinks it suits them!! And to remove the replay function is just barmy!!! You had the player on loan already. It's not like he signed the day before and the paperwork didn't go through. And Wolves had given him permission to play. The inconsistency from the FA is a bit poor. The inconsistency from the FA is a bit poor. Not 100% sure but I remember when Holloway was manager of Blackpool he was fined for bringing the game into disrepute because he sent out a mix of youth, reserves and 1 or 2 first teamers in the FA Cup because he wanted to concentrate on the Premier League. RE: Could we be kicked out of the FA Cup? - Dancingwilldoit - 16-12-2014 We should put 2 fingers up to the FA and tell them to stuff it where the sun don't shine. Stupid decision by silly men who should know better. At least if we walked it would go down in history and might shake the numpties up a bit. We would be appearing in pub quizzes for years - Apart from the winners, who were the only other unbeaten side in the 2014-15 F A Cup ! What is it about the people running (ruining) our game? The FA is like FIFA but without the bribes - not a brain cell between them. RE: Could we be kicked out of the FA Cup? - spireitematt - 16-12-2014 Friday 2nd January is when the replay will be played. http://www.chesterfield-fc.co.uk/news/article/chief-executive-apologises-to-fans-2147173.aspx RE: Could we be kicked out of the FA Cup? - Devongone - 16-12-2014 I'm pleased Chris Turner has publicly shouldered the blame and apologised on behalf of the club to the fans. I'm impressed. Me saying that of Chris Turner, never was there such a day. Though I agree with Dancing that the rules are ridiculous and their implementation by a blinkered set of jobsworths is pretty embarrassing, I don't agree that we should stick up two fingers in response. MKD, who come in for an awful lot of criticism, have been brilliant throughout. We should go there on January 2nd and attempt the extraordinarily difficult task of repeating our victory. Our players should go out there and applaud the MKD players onto the pitch and go round the ground applauding their fans to show our club's appreciation of their stance. It would be too easy to go out there and be mean-spirited and pretend we don't care about the FA Cup. But we'd simply make ourselves like managers who field weakened teams and the FA officials who run the competition with such an absence of feeling. We should do our best to make it a night to remember win or lose. As Cookie always says, it's time to show a bit of class. And maybe a touch of class from us, on top that touch of class displayed by MKD might motivate the FA to adopt a similar attitude to the future administration of its competitions. RE: Could we be kicked out of the FA Cup? - spireitematt - 17-12-2014 So we play the replay on the 2nd Jan but will the FA make us play Worcester or Scunny on the 3rd or 4th. Can a team play 2 matches 1 day after the other? RE: Could we be kicked out of the FA Cup? - Devongone - 17-12-2014 Daniel Jones was suspended for the MKD game. Will he be eligible to play 2nd Jan? Doesn't seem fair to MKD if he is. As that was one of the games for which he was banned, how many games of his ban has he now served? One game has been wiped from history .... or maybe not. As MKD accepted Margreitter was a bona fide Chesterfield player, Wolves were happy for him to play, Worcester and Scunthorpe would almost certainly be happier to play Chesterfield than MKD ..... and no one complained, on behalf of whom, or what does the FA imagine it is acting? It would be great if the winner of our tie did have to play again the following afternoon. Scunny or Worcester's match preparations and tactics would be particularly interesting ..... as would our efforts to keep some players fit enough to perform well twice. If they'd just get on with drawing the fourth round we could do that on the Monday. |
