So, Warburton it is, with David Weir as his assistant.

I hope this will be a success, but it's important to remember that King and co. have no divine gift for selecting the perfect manager (that I'm aware of) and there's something of a gamble being taken here with his lack of experience. However, now that we have someone in place we can start putting the rest of the puzzle together. Onwards and upwards.

Been proven you don't need much experience but have the correct knowledge of the game to succeed,Robbie Neilsen the prime example, boy done a good jibe with Brentford think Gers could have this one right

There are plenty of novice managers in European football who have gone straight in at the deep end with some of Europe's biggest clubs and even their national sides, sometimes with considerable success, but it's still more of a gamble than hiring a manager with a proven track record of success. Warburton hasn't had a chance to do that, but the other thing is that unlike most of those successes he doesn't have a history with the club (or even with Scottish football) and the knowledge and experience of dealing with the pressure of expectation that goes with that. You're right though that knowledge of the game as a whole is important, and he can bring something different to us. Main thing will of course be getting the results on the park.

His assistant has all the knowledge of the club he needs to bounce off so no need to worry about that.

I thought when Celtic hired Ronnie it was a good hire and broke the mould of knowing Scottish football, I thnk this hire has the same feel about it. Warburton comes with no baggage, especially in Scotland, and will bring a lot of new ideas for the club as a whole. Weir gives him access to all the knowledge of Scotland he will need. Very good hire in my view!

Not convinced by the David Weir side of things to be honest. He's had a bit of a mixed record as a coach so far but I'll need to wait to see how it works out at Rangers.

He did well at Everton as a coach. He struggled at the Blunts as a manger, but I think he is one of those guys who is a coach, not a manger.

At the very least he might at least help sort out our defence. If we can solidify that again we have a chance of promotion.

There is nothing about this on the Rangers website atm {14/06/2015}, so we are still at the speculation stage.

Skysports - Mark Warburton to be named Rangers manager on Monday - Sky sources

Considering the bookies have suspended all betting on the Rangers mangers job, it looks like a done deal to me!!
