RE: Match Thread - SWFC v Rotherham - Jacko The Flopsy Piglet - 04-03-2016

I spoke yesterday to a bloke I went to school with who is a big Rotherham fan and he said they'd sold about 900 tickets. He said he wasn't going tomorrow, for the first time since 1981, for the same reason that they haven't sold many tickets. Apathy!

He said the Rotherham fans were resigned to going down, especially under Redfearn, although he did say they might have found a bit more belief after winning last week. He said they'd signed a tricky winger on loan and that if we play aerial balls up to the front he thinks their centre halves will dominate. I did question this as one of them is Richard Wood, formerly of this parish and not remembered as being a monster in the air.

Anyway, I said I was nervous about dropping points to them but he said most of their fans were expecting to lose. I hope he's right!

I dont care if the Rotherham fans come or not ? or any away fans to be honest !! but it would be nice if the wednesday fans could afford to sit in the away end like charlie says !!

And Flopsy if we go nuhui up top and hope that the balls sent in he will win and play them on to hooper with a 2 man foward line then we are fooked !! Thats warnocks wet dream !!

We have to play 3 with Joao Hooper and maybe someone nippy wallace or dare i say it mcgeady ?

It's the only thing we have to watch out for, it's the one thing we know before hand and should prepare for. Warnocks ankle tapping and hoofball. Which is a good thing FF is suspended because no doubt he'd get ankle tapped then booked for simulation in this one Laugh

Don't forget, Colin likes to get on the old dog & bone with the ref's for a bit of banter Wink

Anywhoo. Mcgeady needs to start showing something, I'm hoping he just needs to warm up like Hooper did. This guy is talented, no world class player but he is talented enough to help us with our playoff push.

In the PL, 90% of tickets sold to home fans are to ST holders so we are gradually moving towards that position.

Which is bad news IMO. When relegation eventually comes ST ticket sales plummet and with the floating fan already alienated after years of being unable to attend so do crowds. Just ask Noblot, Blackburn, Wolves, Boro, Fulham etc.

'Boro back top on the table 2-0 against Wolves and with Brum winning last night it's clear how much ground we lost.

Brighton on Tuesday is looking like a big ask. 6th spot is still ours to lose though.

That is why staying in the PL (or at least returning quickly with parachute payments) is so important. Half PL team have sold out STs & have a waiting list.

From reports, our early ST sales are 50% up on last year at this stage and already higher than the total ST sales for this season. We are following the model of the big clubs. Even United sold 22,000 STs when they were last in the PL and crowds have increased by over 10% since then.

If we get promoted, I expect we will sell close to 25,000 STs with crowds averaging 30,000 with these figures increasing the following season if we stay up.
