I don't think there's a Rangers fan out there who thinks we've had good value out of our players in the past few years, but then that's universally true of some players at every professional club. We're finally going down a more affordable path that places more emphasis on developing our own youth, but again I don't think I've heard any Rangers fan complain about this, and indeed for the most part it's what we've wanted since before 2012 even.

To say Hearts is a model to follow is pretty dubious at the moment. Hearts were forced to depend heavily on youth players because of a crippling financial situation and a transfer ban, and that young squad got them relegated from the top flight. Last season they bought in a host of foreign players, some an improvement and some pretty average, in a manner reminiscent of Scottish football circa the late 90s and early 2000s, and have seen youth players released or leave because they were being squeezed out of the first team by the new players. That's not to say it's going to be an ongoing trend, but it might be. Their signings this summer will be a good indication of their future direction. But at the end of the day the advantage Hearts had was a good scouting system, or at least good knowledge of available players established by Craig Levein since he lost his job as Scotland manager.

It might also be that we go down that route again (of buying most of our first team), but at the moment it looks like we're building a squad for the long term, and rather than buying in experienced players to fill all the gaps we're bringing in younger guys for our development squad who we can shape.

I think we probably will spend money on players in time, but it's more likely to be for the odd talent who would be a standout rather than the norm.
hibs, hearts, Aberdeen and Arbroath wirnae put intae liquidation because they were spending money they didnae have on players. and it wid appear rangers still havnae learnt their lesson paying inflated wages for the level o' fitba' they're at. and after being shown favour tae get back intae the footb all league and and the softly softly approach by the SFA regarding a' things rangers, especially dave"I was never found guilty "king being found a fit and proper person it is galling that they're being allowed tae carry on in the same cavalier manner. by the way,how much o' his 30 mill is left, oh I forgot, he hasnae yet. kevin kyles interview is quite an eye opener as tae what went on

a big advantage hearts had was that they knew for sometime what was gonnae happen, but the biggest difference was they knew they had tae change the way they operated, and they did. I'm no great lover o' hearts but hats off they went aboot it the right way

RE: Transfers - Fredstersafool - 15-07-2015

No idea what the players wages were but in the end up loans were required to get to the seasons end, whatever they are/were being paid it's clear they were over paid for the little they achieved and it helped dent the clubs finances along with the thieves in charge.

Th..th..thome p p people thpeak wi..wi..with a thtammer or a lithp but they ddddont fffeel the needth too inflicth ith upon uth.

Do they?

A needless affectation.

Also, I would imagine that when you speak you occasionally draw breath - at least when the Ritalin is working.

I note with interest that Kevin Kyle has now joined Chelsea Manning, Edward Snowden and Julian Assange in the pantheon of heralded whistleblowers.

How long until an international arrest warrant is issued with his name on it forcing him to seek asylum on an oil rig disguised as a cleaner willing to say just about anything to a journo in return for a few bob?

RE: Transfers - Paigntonhibby - 16-07-2015

The reason folk wi' a stammer didnae write like that is because they can never tell how many times w w w is gonnae come out before they call you a wanker

RE: Transfers - TheWorthinGer - 16-07-2015

Aw diddums. It's bizarre that you only have a Scottish accent with about one word in ten - Julio Teuchtero.

Writes in absurd imaginary language.

No doubt spends time with equally absurd imaginary friends.

RE: Transfers - Paigntonhibby - 16-07-2015

Nothing constructive or anything tae dispute what I've said so ye go on a personal attack about my grammar. Yer a real class act worthless

RE: Transfers - supercooper - 16-07-2015

Neither have you! An unsubstantiated load of garbage from two bob rumour sites. And as for patriotism, i didn't realise you had to type in colloquial grammar, to prove it.

This from the guy who circuitously called me a wanker?

Irony - it must be an Edinburgh thing.

And I'm sure if you dropped the immature affectation your grammar would be just fine. It's the equivalent of wearing a monocle and a top hat whilst carrying a cane, as you push your trolley around Tesco for a weekly shop.

You can't dispute with a fantasist - we know that on here - you'll just make up some more facts.

couple o' sites you can look at trus. or read what kevin kyle had tae say. ian black 12 grand a week , miller 15 [in another post it was 25. Facts, eh?!], boyd 30. knock 10 grand off boyds and its still too much. kevin kyle said the rangers players couldnae believe the amount o' money they were being offered. but as usual you'll probably find that millers ONLY on 14500 and use that tae vindicate yer arguement

You have 3 players taking up half of the wage budget - yet still manage to claim the others in the squad are on £8k a week.

Just stop posting shite. Doesn't matter what idiom you've invented to post it in it's still shite.

Super, if you don't hear yourself as the captain of the Vital Spark as you type you're not a proud Scot.
