Completion of takeover before the end of March.

The news sounds really good and upbeat. I really hope it works.

The only trouble is we've had quite a lot of sounds good in the past and until DA lets it get over the line I won't be convinced. His behaviour never quite suggests a committed vendor to me, but like you Matt, I'll grasp any hope going, even if it turns out to be of the drowning man and a straw variety.

You've got to be optimistic and have faith.

I've just put you in charge of coronavirus planning Matt.

Why isn't the government convening its Cobracorona till Monday. Could it be so we get one last weekend of sport before they shut everything down? Or am I just an old cynic?

Number of deaths so far IN this country is zero.

On a planet being choked by the monstrous levels of its human population we are worried that some people might die. Strange we don't extend the same level of concern to Yemenis when we are selling the Saudi Arabia their murder weapons ……...

It's quite worrying that 2 cases are in Buxton.

When I was in hospital, the morning shift came on and one of the nurses promptly put up a Bay Closed Suspected Corona Virus notice.
The guy next to me had pneumonia with a hacking cough and had been abroad. They were waiting for a private room to put him in.
When the nurse put up the notice, the tea trolley and woman were in our bay. She just carried on serving then poddled off to the next bay. Next came the consultant from bed to bed before he too went on to the other bays.
When they finally found him a room and moved him. A cleaner came in, stripped the bad, removed the curtains, wiped everything in site including the curtain rail, sprayed everything with disinfectant and wiped the floor.
I felt like telling her the horse had bolted on the tea trolley and the consultants hands and shoes but was mesmerized by the thoroughness of the cleaning. Said it was the 3rd one that day and she had 6 more to do.
If ever it gets a real grip here we've got no bloody chance.

Let`s never underestimate the human capacity for panic and over-reaction.
Statistically, the percentage of people who are dying from coronavirus, even amongst those who contract it, is ridiculously low - far lower than `flu, SARS, MERS and the other various pandemics we`ve had over the past few years. Within a few months, it will start to retract of its own accord (even the Black Death only lasted a few months) as people build up immunity and we`ll have a vaccine for it.
The best advice I`ve heard is `be careful but don`t panic`. Only my unqualified opinion, I know, but to my thinking talk of cancellation sports events and programmes is a total over-reaction.

If the combined brain power of China, South Korea and Japan is struggling, a few old white guys and Duffy from Casualty don't have much hope either.

I can't see the virus surviving in Buxton, you need years of in-breeding to manage that.

Thousands of old people like me die every year from flu' and other viruses. Everyone accepts it, a few are upset but hey ho.

Bizarrely we see medical evidence across the world of the marvellous things physicians can do, yet when we get a new virus we haven't seen before we search out scapegoats in a manner reminiscent of the Witch-Finder General, find ourselves attracted to the notion of a germ species-hopping from bats or snakes in an obscure oriental market and conclude the best answer is The Eyam Solution - seal off the village and wait to die, or not, as the case may be.

A Pomeranian dog in Hong Kong may or may not have contracted the virus. And that makes a front page headline in one of today's papers. I think cancel Crufts, burn down Owlerton Greyhound Stadium and send all family pets to the kennels. As far as I can see we've all got to stop living, going anywhere and meeting other living creatures in order to avoid a 1% chance of dying if we contract the virus.

Now if a virus appears that is spread via the internet …….

And if you don't want to catch stuff steering clear of sick people at the Doc's or in Hospital seems like a good idea.

Derbyshire County Council and Chesterfield Borough Council are going to loan £500,000 each to the community trust which will have to be repaid back over 15 years at commercial interest rates and the loans sounds like they are going to be secured against the stadium.

RE: Takeover update - Devongone - 02-08-2020

August 1st has come and gone.

The promised takeover hasn't registered on our website.

A "former?" player giving kit to an academy in Cameroon has.

I didn't expect the take-over, but I do wonder why we aren't interested in having Fondop-Talom playing for us. He did do his job last season!

I assume Pembo's furlough ended with the rest of the country. Everyone else is signing players up for next season ...........

It is and will continue to be a very odd market. Tunde Owolabi whose goals for FC United you would have imagined would have made him a target for every top non-league club as well as the lower leagues of the EFL has gone off to Hamilton Academicals and the list of released EFL players is extensive and in some cases surprising. Do Mansfield Town really have 11 better players than Otis Khan, that they can release him? Peterborough ditched Marcus Maddison. I'm not saying we should, or could, sign them, but they are much better than anything we've got. I think players are going to end up in unusual places and will have to be flexible if they want to stay in football. Some, I think, will make the decision to get a proper job and play for Wirksworth Ivanhoe on Saturdays. But they are also going to find the market for proper jobs is pretty cut-throat.

There are going to be plenty of opportunities for sharp and ambitious clubs ........ and for unscrupulous employers.
