Not only that Josh, a new club record has been achieved - not scoring in five consecutive games. How we managed to get 44 points is a miracle! If we don't do some serious player purchase in the summer, I dread to think what will happen. That said, we've huffed and puffed in all the recent transfer windows so not holding out hope that this next one will be any different. ![]() RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - drewks - 29-04-2017 Forever the optimist, I'd like to think that this barren spell will work in our favour, by making it painfully obvious to those who hold the purse strings that we need a good smattering of new (inventive, goal scoring) talent in the summer. Now, where's those tablets? RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - Zinman - 29-04-2017 If the Chairman wants to see the ground full, there's one obvious thing he can do.... ...or he could take a few thousand seats out. RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - BaggieMan - 30-04-2017 Can't see us getting another point this season. Finish on 44. ![]() RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - Stairs - 30-04-2017 In a way this is a good thing as others have said. We are desperately short of attacking options and a goal scorer. Phillips has been a breath of fresh air. Full of energy and attacking intent. When he's on the pitch, most of the time, he causes people trouble - we need more like him and don't have them right now. Rondon is a lovely fella but as I am often told, being nice is not enough. I accept the service he gets is poor but even then I am beginning to doubt he would score often enough for us to be successful. We need at least one, if not two more strikers to make a difference next season. Same with Robson-Kanu. It's great the fans have taken to him and I am pleased that he is happy to be at the club. But he takes up a squad number and hopefully we could get better this summer. He put be at best a third choice striker next season if we are to succeed. In my opinion we need (at least) One defender One attacking midfielder (in the mould of Phillips) Two strikers (one replacing Rondon or just the one marque signing and hope Rondon can work well with the extra service) RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - Worldclassalbion - 30-04-2017 Playing Chadli down the centre might help. When he was there he was a threat and he and Rondon played well together, Chadli out injured ,comes back and is put out wider, Rondon doesn't score. No coincidence. If this was earlier in the season, this would be very worrying and Pulis could be for the chop. He's done extremely well to get us to 44 points but as usual we capitulate and can't or won't push on. Yesterday was another frustrating day and why on earth did that Albert Steptoe lookalike Vardy cup his ears when he scored? He hadn't received any abuse..........A complete knob who needs a slap RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - aries22 - 30-04-2017 Agree with Stairs about what players we need, only I would add another defender. A specialist left-back would be a nice surprise. RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - Stairs - 30-04-2017 Maybe it's just me. But I haven't really seen a convincing striker at The Albion since The days of Bob Tayor and Lee Hughes. Sure we have had a few that have scored a few good goals but none that put the fear up the opposition and forced them to respect us. Maybe that's because the managers we have had recently have a more defensive mindset than maybe those of the past. RE: WBA vs Leicester - Match Thread - drewks - 30-04-2017 Yup. We need more creativity and pace for sure, but at the top of the wanted list is definitely a goal scorer. But surely every club will be saying that?? IMHO it's worthwhile spending stupid money - even £35m or so - on a proven goal scorer who will make the most of any chances, limited or otherwise, that come his way. We've got the backbone, the work ethic... We now need a bit more creativity, and this striker. Is it that hard an issue? Cmon TP! |
