RE: Match Thread - Brighton - Towinjustonce - 15-02-2015 Vermijl is whatever is name can seemingly play anywhere across the back 4 so surely he can play as a back 3. Or Hutch can go into defence and we can find out if Melo will be any good now rather than half way through next season. The only player I want in is a winger who we might have a chance of signing. Then recall all our loan players and try find out then who we will keep for next season. Has Madine even played in the side with the quality McGugan has ?? I don't think so !! RE: Match Thread - Brighton - Thurnscoe_OWL - 15-02-2015 he can play, he's fit. not match fit but fit. The problem seems to be his attitude really RE: Match Thread - Brighton - Thurnscoe_OWL - 15-02-2015 he doesnt want to play for sheffield wednesday RE: Match Thread - Brighton - peiowl - 15-02-2015 "In the second half we dominated the game on a difficult pitch - again we're talking about the pitch - but I feel for Atdhe at the end there with the chance he's created for himself. "He's gone to side-foot it and it's bobbled up and it's ended up going off his shin which is very frustrating. "I wanted a response. On Tuesday we were very poor against Ipswich (in a 2-1 defeat) and I can't fault the effort. Again it's just that little missing piece of the jigsaw." SG's waffling and excuse making makes me want to do this: ![]() The bugger missed an open goal from 6 yards? My 6 year old grandson would have put that one in. But, I see, it's all the pitch's fault. Right. RE: Match Thread - Brighton - Thurnscoe_OWL - 15-02-2015 Wasn't an open goal (wasn't even 1v1) but should have definitely scored. Lee's was an "easier" chance and he fluffed it as well. There is something really wrong with our players. They all seem to have lost the composure they had a month ago (we weren't exactly free scoring then but at least we were hitting the target) RE: Match Thread - Brighton - madsteve - 15-02-2015 (15-02-2015, 20:45)Thurnscoe_OWL Wrote: Wasn't an open goal (wasn't even 1v1) but should have definitely scored. Lee's was an "easier" chance and he fluffed it as well. I was in the North Stand right behind the Nuhui chance (and the first Lee one) and he had almost half the goal unguarded as the keeper was only covering one side of the goal so it was just a question of getting bit on target. We were taught at U11 level that on a bobbly pitch, you should always play the top of the ball as this prevents you ballooning the ball over if it bobbles. Does SG not teach his strikers the basics? Lee's first chance was not quite as easy but pretty easy. If he hit it with his left foot there was a gap of about two yards that the keeper couldn't have covered. The second Lee chance, I didn't have such a good angle on & have only seen the TV coverage. Maybe because SG is always talking about the pitch & how it makes it difficult to score, they expect bobbles so lose their composure. If the manager gives you an excuse, the players will take it. Sir Alex Ferguson used to say that good players stand out more on a bad pitch. RE: Match Thread - Brighton - Thurnscoe_OWL - 16-02-2015 When I played we were always told (if you were midfield or striker anyway) "head over the ball" when on a bad pitch, literally put your head over the ball as you kick it and it can't balloon up because your foot hits the top of the ball rather than underneath. We seem to forget the basics at times. ![]() ![]() RE: Match Thread - Brighton - madsteve - 16-02-2015 (16-02-2015, 00:27)Thurnscoe_OWL Wrote: When I played we were always told (if you were midfield or striker anyway) "head over the ball" when on a bad pitch, literally put your head over the ball as you kick it and it can't balloon up because your foot hits the top of the ball rather than underneath. In Nuhui's case, he was starting to fall backwards so took a big swish at the ball whereas if he had just poked it, it would have gone in. RE: Match Thread - Brighton - Thurnscoe_OWL - 16-02-2015 I've still not seen the highlights so can only go off what I can remember but like you say, it was a tap in ![]() It's gone beyond the point of anger for me as well. When he missed I started laughing. Got a few funny looks from those round me punching seats and screaming in anger but the football has honestly got so bad it's funny. Eventually everyone will catch up to me and we'll see scenes like when Bothroyd smashed over from 5 yards and the whole kop cheered. This Nuhiu sitter and Lee's fĂșck up just about sums up our whole season. RE: Match Thread - Brighton - St Charles Owl - 16-02-2015 Here you go Thurny, get a few of these made and hand them out to fans on the kop!!! |
