Well that was a half of two halves if ever I saw one. Keep it up chaps - the last 25 mins that is. Thumb up

RE: Town v Boro - Lord Snooty - 28-11-2020

Much better last ten minutes. Good to see young Lewis stamping his authority on the game at last.

Great finish from Campbell, deliberately slipping so the shot looped off his other foot over the keeper. Whistle

Hold it there chaps - I need the 6 points. Whistle

My 6 points gone but mum, mum, my Koroma grabs the points that matter back again

Thanks Hoggy - but that's not the points I need right now. We win, I'll take it.

By 'eck! That was hard work. What it brilliant goal to win it after they cheated a penalty.

"Can't believe it, Dave. Assomba-bloody-longa missed from one yard out. One yard!"

So who's your man of the match out of that lot?

I gave it to Schindler for half a match at Wycombe, so I don't see why Ramarni Edmonds-Green can't have it for his hour on the pitch. He was excellent. Naby had a good un again, but blotted his copy book by giving Assombalonga the opportunity to dive in the box. Rolleyes

It could go to Mbenza. He's come on leaps n bounds this season and can I just say, I never doubted he would.  Whistle  Not only was he good going forward and getting crosses in, but also his defensive work was top drawer. Well it's a good job really. Bacuna ain't no right back. I love Juninho, but at the other end of the field. DO NOT play him there again! Blush

Koroma. Great goal and again looked very good in attack. Fraizer was having to do too much coming back to help out because the midfield went missing in the first quarter. Luckily they got their arses in gear and the rest of the three quarters, Lewis, Eiting and Hoggy looked brilliant. Fortunately, we weren't three down by the time that happened.

Harry the Toff, excellent again. Schofield let the first goal go through him. Have I missed anybody?

So I reckon either REG or Isaac McBenza for MOM. Or maybe Josh. Or O'Brien. Or Campbell. Or Eiting. Tongue

Good win, a battling performance in the end after a poor start. Some seemed glad Stearman went off injured, sure the game changed when he went off, but he was by no means the reason we were losing, in a way he was part of the reason it was only 1, good to see reggie get some minutes and do well.

Weakest link for me was bacuna again, who doesn't look like he really wants to be here, now according to transfermarkt, his deal expires at the end of this season along with pretty much everyone else, I personally believe that to be wrong and a few have an extra year left with others having the option to extend to next year. But with bacuna, I'd possibly be looking to move him on in January, we signed him for an undisclosed fee, but 3mil rings a bell, if we could get that again for him from a French team, I'd take it and either bring Scott high back from Shrewsbury or promote Austerfield or diarra.

Mbenza is one of those who's deal apparently expired at the end of the season, but I feel we have one more year, if not or its an option, I'd be extending or renewing his deal. When he gets the ball in the final third, it feels like something could happen, same with set pieces now. Sure, he's had 2 bad seasons before this where he got slagged off by fans for not caring, but this season we've seen a big turn around in his mentality and performances and as such it needs to be rewarded. He may not get the circa 15k he'll be on now, but if you shave 2-5k off it becomes available for another player. Same with a few other players. I've said before that only one of Stearman, schindler and Elphick will stay, but if reg and critch keep progressing then maybe none will stay, that being said, I'd potentially look at giving schindler a one year extension on less wage with the option of a further year. Same with hogg, just to allow reg, critch, high, Austerfield, diarra and camara that extra bit of time to develop further.

If I'm being honest, I'd suggest that the most part of the squad would be available for sale at the right price in January, but come the end of the season, I'd probably keep a couple of the old heads like I've mentioned plus probably hamer and Campbell just for the time being whilst fellow young players like schofield, harratt and Phillips develop into roles.

We're still in different times, so other clubs won't be able to offer the wages of old, so I reckon a lot of the players would be open to new, reduced deals, maybe with certain promises and what not

RE: Town 3-2 Boro - theo_luddite - 30-11-2020

I can believe he missed from 1 yd out either - but he has previous.

REG coming on put Boro on their back foot. While Stears didn't do much wrong, REG was faster and more comfortable on the ball and was pushing balls to lads in god places while Stears and Sarr were previously getting caught for pace and passing it nowhere that mattered. This pushed Boro back into their half rather than ours and helped no end in us being in front at half-time when with better finishing from Boro, we'd have all switched off and dug some worms up for the robins to eat in the garden for the 2nd half.

There's divas, divers and Assombalonga when it comes to their 2nd. The REG challenge later on was more of penalty to be honest. Think that the ref having possibly been told he called a wrong 'un for the first was reluctant to give Boro another. Either way he didn't, even if Colin didn't agree.

jjamez - we only ever give players away on a free, unless they are worth more than £5m - so what's this players for sale stuff about?

RE: Town 3-2 Boro - Lord Snooty - 30-11-2020

The REG challenge was never a penalty. He clearly won the ball. Colin moaning because he's a bad loser. Which is a good thing to be but........ Shurrup, man!
