RE: Irvine - 4evaabaggie - 23-11-2014

I am still not convinced that AI is the right man for the job, from my limited point of view and I bow down to those with more experience as I do not get to many games, I have not been yet this season and I refuse to pay for the biased coverage and views of sky and BT hence I only get the biased views and coverage of the BBC although I managed to get the second half of the Newcastle game whilst taking a break at work. We appeared to be very predictable and were easily stopped, we got closed down causing passes to be over hit or misplaced. most of our goals have come from Saido and we still appear vulnerable from crosses and corners. most of our new signings have not had a game and we are now only three points above Burnley who are third bottom. We appear to be to defensive and we are not that secure at the back. My humble pie is still in the shop and will stay there for a while yet. I hope he does prove me wrong because that means a good season and another year of greed league football. Please somebody anybody correct me if I am wrong ...... Arsenal up next deep joy.

You're still not convinced? I have been convinced for some time that he is not the man for the job I want performed at West Brom.

He might be a very good coach on the training ground
He might be a very good developer of the youth
He might even be a great motivator and have the squad all happy little chaps
He might just keep us up. But it will be ugly and uninspiring

But,
He is not showing any tactical skills
He is not using the squad that was accumulated for him - why (did he not want them, does he not approve of the summer purchases)

If I had been JP and invested all that money (relatively large for us) then I would be very concerned about the return I was getting!

Well i was never convinced either and have always felt he's been getting away with it, for me his time is up IF this was Irvine's first job i could be a lot more lenient with him but this guy has already failed at Preston and Sheffield Wednesday this is what some of the "give him a chance" club sometimes fail to consider, He was negative at both previous clubs and he is not going to change!

RE: Irvine - wba_1996 - 23-11-2014

Honestly, if I was JP I would sack him now along with Downing and Keen and replace him with a MANAGER and give the new man his own backroom staff. Everything about this club is stale and boring and has been since Clarke's bad run started.

I saw someone mention that only us and Spurs persist with this "continental" head coach set-up, and look how we're both doing. We aren't going to attract anyone with any sort of managerial pedigree under the current restrictions, that is why we have to settle for tripe like Clarke and Irvine.

RE: Irvine - Slick_Footwork - 23-11-2014

The blame has to go with Peace for employing him.

Why on earth do you employ someone who has failed in the past?

We are a Premier League club, not an experiment. If Irvine wanted to rebuild his managerial career, he should've started lower down the ladder.

All I know is, in any other industry, you wouldn't even get an interview if you had a CV like Irvine's.

I'm scratching my head as to why he was selected, frankly. I don't think it's because he was the 'cheap option' because in the grand scheme of Premier salaries, a manager's is such a small fraction these days. I can only think that the club is so naive about how great the backroom staff is, they think any 'good coach' will do. What they seem to forget is that a manager has to pick the best XI and motivate the players too - it's a completely different job to academy coaching.

For me, anything below the top half is poor with this squad. However, the way we're playing under Irvine, i'll be happy if we're still playing Premier League football in 15-16...

I Never thought i'd say this but Tony Pulis wouldn't be a bad option at all now the way we keep messing about Doh Someone needs to come in with the bottle to shake things up from top to bottom, I'm sure Sherwood would of done the same hence why Peace decided against it...i bet he wishes went with him now cause this bloke brings nothing to the table

RE: Irvine - Worldclassalbion - 24-11-2014

It sums AI up when he was asked about his TACTICS, his reply was he liked them as they are small, minty and White Big Grin ........Seriously though he has to go, he is clueless and where are our wide, speed merchants, our other fast tricky players???? Oh yeah I forgot he doesn't like them as he sets up to contain Angry

Enough is Enough, he will send us down and I can see us in the bottom 3 come Christmas Thumb down

Its got to the point where I am struggling to motivate myself to get to the games and I have a season ticket..

#PISSED OFF ONE WORRIED BAGGIE

RE: Irvine - Baggie_One - 24-11-2014

can we play guess the team for the weekend................................

RE: Irvine - Worldclassalbion - 24-11-2014

IF AI had these players, this would be our team for Saturday:

Foster
Wisdom
Lescott
Dawson
Pocognoli
McCauley
Olsson
Davidson
Baird
John Wile
Ally Robertson

That's defensive enough I think

RE: Irvine - silverbaggie - 24-11-2014

It looks as if Brendan Rodgers is about to get the sack from Liverpool.

Could we be in with a chance of replacing AI with a Manager who can organise a team properly?
