Nothing but complimentary comments in the media, still early days but style of play, work rate, attitude etc are in a different place to what we saw at the end of last season so can only be pleased with that.
Bonum vinum laetificat cor hominis.

The signs are very promising at the moment, but I'm not going to get carried away - lose the next two and people will be calling for his head again. The only negative for me is his use of substitutions which I think could be vastly improved.

Its not AI's faut but its frustrating that Mulumbu, Yacob, Varela and Ideye haven't been fit/on form/picked as if they were firing on all cylinders we would be a force to be reckoned with.

know what you mean '66 the subs are a bit of a worry, last night was not the time to change it around i don't think, could have been 3 pts.I too would like to see Varela and all the rest of the new boys playing, but face,it wiil be difficult to shift the guys in at the moment.Their time will no doubt come though, maybe at B'mouth in the cup.

The humble pie has been purchased and sits in the fridge for now. I am beginning to think that I am going to have to cut a slice soon but will wait a few wins more before I feel I need to do that.

If we beat Palace, Leicester and Newcastle to show we don't switch off when not playing the 'big boys' I will be happy to see out the season with him at the helm (and maybe beyond).

Fair enough.Sounds about right. But at the moment the pie tastes fairly good, after a poor start.

Don't get me wrong - I would love to eat a very large portion of humble pie as it means Albion are being successful

As mentioned in the post regarding last night's game, the thing that really stands out for me is the fact that all the players seem to be putting in 100% and I don't believe we've really had that since the early days of Steve Clarke. The dressing room was obviously not the best - as we know there were a few well publicised dressing room/club bust ups & fallouts, and this, coupled with the need to bring in so many players ahead of the new season meant that Alan Irvine had a HUGE job on his hands when he was appointed.
IMO he's done wonders under the circumstances; the team spirit looks fantastic, the organisation in the team is obviously there in abundance, and some of the football we're seeing, with the lovely triangles, intelligent running and deft touches is great. This is being done by players that some of us have thought shouldn't be starting - some of the less technically gifted players (according to some!).
So even if the wheels DO fall off a little I, for one, still applaud JP for appointing Alan Irvine, and AI himself. We're not going to win the league, but the football we're starting to play is in our best traditions; to more than compete against a team last night who's LEFT BACK, FFS, cost twice as much as our whole line up, and show the resolve and skill that we did, shows that we've got an awful lot to commend AI for, even now Thumb up

You only need to look down the road at Blues they made an inspired choice and they are already seeing the rewards, We go for a failed manager/coach who inspires no one we didn't even have that exciting honey moon period that can happen for a lot of new bosses i know we never actually know how they perform until they take over but that Rowett appointment always seemed the right choice the same as the Irvine appointment never felt right, the sooner he is gone the better cause these winnable home games are passing us by and i honestly can't see Irvine having the bottle to go for it against both West Ham and Villa. Looking at where we are now and looking at our last 5 games we are in serious trouble unless something changes quickly
