Well, after a promising start this is now heading very swiftly in the direction I expected it to.

Sam needs to be given the funds to strengthen that spine asap. You can't make a silk purse out of a pigs ear and this set of lads simply can't defend.

That's the 2 in midfield and the 2 at the back...

Two basic balls into the box and we're all at sea. Nobody fighting to win the challenges or busting a gut to get a block in.

On the plus side, Snodgrass looks by far our best player. Puts a tackle in, picks the right pass going forward, actually ventured into the opposition box, knows when to go to ground.

If only we had more of this genuine Premier League experience...

Can't see us getting anything out of the game now as Wolves are dominating the midfield 2 vs 3. Ours simply aren't athletic enough to get about them. And any free kick or corner they win will likely lead to a goal as we simply can't deal with balls coming in. Any 50/50 or battle and Wolves are going to win it. I know I sound like a broken record but it is tragic to see a West Brom team with so little fight and spirit.

I’m not watching the game, just picking up the score. Is there anyone on the bench to make a difference?

Well well well so far my 2-1 prediction is on the money but that was my ft thoughts there’s time for a cricket score yet again so I’m gonna adjust that to 4-1

2-2 now, lovely header from Ajayi. Slick's right, though - every time Wolves pump a ball into our box we look like conceding. Still, at least we're fighting.

Sweet merciful Buddha on a pushbike, it's going to take a week for me and my blood pressure to recover from that Laugh

When the dust settles, this is going to go down as one of the great Black Country derbies, and rightly so. First thoughts, as someone who expected defeat at the least and total humiliation at the worst, I give maximum credit to Sam and the team for pulling out all the stops in this one. To come out depleted by COVID, having only won once all season and produce a result like that against arch-rivals is a magnificent achievement.

I'd stand by the view that our defending (especially from corners) was Keystone Cops for the first hour, but Kyle Bartley deserves the freedom of West Bromwich, because when the chips were down in that last half-hour he led by example at the back. Absolutely rock-solid, and if we still rode our luck at times, then we deserved that bit of good fortune for all the hard work and concentration. Snodgrass has also given us that bit of something extra in attack; great movement off the ball, a real contrast to previous games. And Pereira has just about redeemed himself for his lapse in the shootout last Saturday.

Albion, eh? There might just be a bit of life left in the old girl yet.
