RE: Match Thread - Bournemouth - Statesideowl - 05-11-2014 I'm getting a bit despondent with it all, it's back to the same old same old, we over achieved for the first 7 games and now we're inept, clueless and easily beaten RE: Match Thread - Bournemouth - madsteve - 05-11-2014 For all that DJ deserved the sack in the end, at least he brought in loan signings that did something positive - Barkley, Lita, Wickham, Treacy, Fryatt. If all SG can attract is Hope & GTF, we are screwed. I still believe that our squad matches up pretty well with most other teams in the division. If you had compared our squad with Bournemouth's before the season, pretty much everyone would agree we were stronger. Howe has got them playing above themselves while we play below ourselves due to poor tactics & team selection. MM will sack SG. The question is when. If he sacks him now, we could still make the Playoffs with even an average manager or he could wait until we hit the bottom six, leaving us with a fight to survive. RE: Match Thread - Bournemouth - Kimmyowl - 05-11-2014 Good analysis of the game MS , pretty much how I saw it, I thought lee was awful again, often taking 3/4 touches when 1 was more than enough, time and time again he slowed our forward play, as for coke this is where I disagree quite a bit, I thought he was our 2nd best player behind helan, the amount of covering for the other players and numerous lung busting runs he did were vital and had he not done so we would've got hammered, little surprise he couldn't offer too much going forward. Nuhui won every ball in the air outside the box but none in it, go figure that one RE: Match Thread - Bournemouth - Statesideowl - 05-11-2014 Exactly MS, This is the problem, and what's upsetting to me. We have a very capable team here, miles apart from the team we had a couple of seasons ago. They started playing well, seemed to have belief. Now their heads seem to go down easily as if there's very little belief left. Our once solid back line is now becoming clumsy, midfield is non-existent and the goals have dried up. We didn't learn from the 'Boro game, we have to put games to bed even when we're 3-0 up, we're the kind of team to screw it all up. I just don't know where we're going other than down at the minute, and SG is starting to look out of his depth. Again, surely some of this is down to us not having any modern amenities at our disposal, MS pointed out that other team have tactical advisors and such... we're so far behind the modern game and MM isn't investing, he want out. but how do you sell something no one wants? RE: Match Thread - Bournemouth - madsteve - 05-11-2014 WE'RE DOOMED, I TELL YOU!!! ![]() RE: Match Thread - Bournemouth - Statesideowl - 05-11-2014 Ok... RE: Match Thread - Bournemouth - A57owl - 05-11-2014 I know Bournemouth are on fire at the moment but I'm getting increasingly upset about our current 8 game run. What the hell has happened? We have blown a promising start. We have had injuries but we have also still managed to put out a reasonably consistent team. Our lack of goals and ability to pressure teams is costing us points and games. We have a good, if not too smaller squad, but are back to the same old rubbish and an ever decreasing league position. I have been a SG fan, however, the lack of goals is worrying me. Has his lost his way? This can't go on for too much longer. The slide seems to be gathering speed. If we lose on Saturday MM needs to start asking questions before we slip into trouble. I'm so annoyed after the start. I had been twice to Hillsborough early doors and thought my passion to go regularly had been reignited... not so sure now after some of the poor performances and lack of goals. I think SG's light is now burning less brightly... almost a weak flicker soon to be snubbed out?? I think SG's light is now burning less brightly... almost a weak flicker soon to be snubbed out?? I thought Bournemouth were on fire as well. However, I spoke to a Bournemouth fan yesterday before the match & he told me that their results were misleading. They had crushed Birmingham but they were hopeless. They were lucky to beat Brighton 3-2 so their unbeaten run was against Wednesday, Brighton, Birmingham, Reading, Charlton & Bolton. Christ we beat three of those & drew with the other two so don't read too much into it. That said, they were significantly better than us. Failure to win on Saturday will see the majority wanting SG out. A win will keep him in the job until Xmas when we lose to Blackpool & reach the bottom three. |
