RE: Summer transfers - Amelia Chaffinch - 17-05-2016 I'm surprised. I thought he'd be safe in that job until he chose to retire. RE: Summer transfers - jjamez - 17-05-2016 Messi is 5'7 and was about 4'8 until he was 15 when he had medical injections to help the process RE: Summer transfers - WakeyTerrier - 18-05-2016 Great bloke is Mark Lillis but I'm afraid if this club wants to progress then we have to improve our staff in the background and our academy. I can only think of Smithies and Hunt coming through from the youth who have been a success the rest have been pretty much failures. RE: Summer transfers - theo_luddite - 18-05-2016 Mirf Went to Sunny Scunny, got promoted to the Championship while we were still farting around in League 1. Transferred to Watford when Scunny went back down then went back to Sunny Scunny. Still there tho has had a loan at Hartlepuddles too. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-mirfin/profil/spieler/49097 Probably wouldn't have had half the problems at the back over the last few seasons if numbnuts Ternent hadn't sold him in the first place. RE: Summer transfers - jjamez - 18-05-2016 Stead did alright. Not the greatest in the second spell. Tom clarke has done well and i think he's showing we may have dropped a clanger there. Jack hunt too. In all fairness simon eastwood whilst also not being great has had some games in the champ and Nathan clarke has been a very good lower league player. Whilst another who someone used to rave over in james berrett has been average at best. There are a few others that have come through towns academy that are playing in the lower leagues, some only due to injuries. Also worth pointing out that matt crooks and josh windass are both going up to Scottish premiership after having a good spell at Accrington. I think our problem is and has been ever since dean hoyle has come in is bad management of our young players. Clarke and ternant were quick to buy in and sell our own produced players. Since then theyve been a needs must case because they may not be better than what was brought in, add to that the emergency loan window so you could get cover in quickly. Then you have the case that none of the managers, stan, clarke, larry, robins, powell and (for) now wagner have never trusted the younger players truly, (although wags did take hanson, senior and few others to spain, so despite all the clamour they may seriously not be ready one iota..) look at robins with crooks, the lad was doing well in midfield and higher up the pitch, so he throws him in at centre half... like i said he's going to rangers now. Think there's a lot of mismanagement in the system and now that dw and sw are wanting one identity then all age groups should be playing the same as the first team if so we might see some results. Also i do think that we, dh and us fans might have real high expectations purely because we've seen what leeds and a few other teams have produced and what billing has looked like so far and thus we think that is what we will get. What we need to do is have the best young players training with the first team during pre season, going on the tours, featuring in games and not just make do subs but actually starting alongside who we have and who we get, maybe then they can do a hunt and force their way in but at least they can show where they are at, it might be a case they need to be loaned out etc if so at least we have learned that the right way. RE: Summer transfers - theo_luddite - 18-05-2016 Next season any loans in or out will have to be sorted during the transfer windows. The two emergency loan periods will be scrapped (possible exceptions being for injured goalies). If we get a few injuries then we'll have to promote from within unless the squad balloons to somewhere north of 25 players again. Can't see it somehow. RE: Summer transfers - SHEP_HTAFC - 18-05-2016 What DH wants is Championship standard players coming through. Not lower league standard. Crooks and Windass going to Rangers is no big deal. Whilst they are a huge club, they are nowhere near mid to lower Championship standard...and I include us in that. We would give them a hiding right now. RE: Summer transfers - Lord Snooty - 19-05-2016 John Coddington's grandson signed. A goalkeeper from Boro. One for the development squad.
