LAST TIME OUT
FORM GUIDE
PNE 6 BRENTFORD 11 (Drawn last four)
Getting closer to the end this plus two others at home with a tour of the Midlands for the three away games, the last two games have given us to impetus that we sadly lacked towards the end of Alex's reign just wonder whether the players were giving their all but in time we may find out. A big welcome to Brentford who seem to be stuttering towards the end of the regular season four draws on the bounce have not help and are now having to play catch up falling 9 points behind Watford.
In this bizarre season the result at Brentford's ground probably sums up our season 2 down at half time win 4-2. Decent side these lot good individuals Toney scoring tons of goals not doubt will be transferred for millions this summer it's the way they work. Canos is a danger but they have quality all over the pitch.
FRANKIE SAYS
Alan Browne will be back obviously. Hopefully we will have one or two back in. We will have a look at DJ, Sean and Anthony Gordon this morning.
Greg will probably be another week or two, it's not too bad just a recurring problem. We want to be on the safe side with him.
You've got to give credit to the guys that have been on the pitch - they have done it. Alan will come in and be part of the squad, and we will look at the best way to get a result. He will be ready and available for selection. Confidence is a big thing in football - we've got to keep our feet on the ground, it's only a start. Those games are finished.
To be fair, it has always been there. Sometimes it gets a wee bit fragile when things and results don't go their way. We needed to find that energy and enthusiasm, and full credit to them they have done. I couldn't have asked any more of them.
The best way to go about it I thought was to go two up top and get the structure behind it. We wanted to create more chances and score more goals. After Norwich I thought we needed to look a bit more solid and so we changed it for Swansea and they did great.
It was excellent last time, but that game is in the past now. A lot of the personnel we had are not here. We've got to try and emulate that as best as we can and try to win the game. I'm hoping for the same commitment, enthusiasm and calmness on the ball. I thought we got the off-the-ball stuff better against Swansea.
The task is still to stay in the Championship, that's still what we want to do. But as I said at the start, we had eight games and that's two gone now. The next one is Brentford and we will take it one game at a time - that's exactly the way we are approaching it. We will do the same things, try to get better at what we are doing well and improve the bits we haven't done as well.

To set the mood:
Head to head stats are favourable but I'm not sure that counts for much right now.
Last time out we managed a 1-1 draw courtesy of a Rotherham og in the 90th minute.
As we're both firmly planted in the bottom half of the table, that's all I've copied:
First bit of good news is that we could still leap-frog Derby if we win and they don't or they get beaten a gazillion to nil. Unfortunately, all the teams around us seem to be picking up wins with the exception of Blackburn. With a bit of luck their freefall will continue but I'm not fond of relying on other teams to cock up.
The Millers are still managed by Paul Warne who has been in situ since 2016.
They come into this match having lost 3-0 at home to bottom-placed Wycombe on Monday. We may have lost 7-0 yesterday but at least it was away from home and to Norwich at the top.
Who's scoring for 'em?
Ben Wiles is still in the squad who scored against us last time.
Their Starting XI v Wycombe was:-
No 21 is Angus MacDonald who scored the og last time. Not to be confused with no 4 Shaun MacDonald who was one of the subs:
The second piece of good news is that Saturday will feel cold and Carlos & co may freeze their knackers off:
How bad do our performances need to get before the pundits stop linking Carlos to Bielsa?
A penny for 'em?
To set a more upbeat mood (unless you don't like swing or rock 'n' roll), Jive Bunny and the Mastermixers come from Rotherham. Never seen a white rabbit at the match, though. Then again I'm not James Stewart and Jive Bunny isn't called Harvey. (You'll have to look it up, jj, that reference comes from the days of black and white films - sorry!)

This would be absolutely perfect if Hibs managed to finally beat Rangers at Ibronx on Sunday thereby cementing their 3rd place position in the Scot Prem. As well as Ryan Jack still missing in midfield, they are gonna be weakened on their right flank as Paterson will be suspended (4 x deserved match bans!) due to COVID non-compliance that he can't deny and no matter how much his manager keeps whining about it!! Therefore lets focus on that position! I'm curious to see who the SFA assigned ref is this time around as most Hibs fans like myself are well aware that we've been "stitched up" in the last two matches v them by either incompetent or downright biased referees. Lets hope this match is not blessed by Golum, Madden, Clancy, McLean or Beaton but don't "hold your breath" in anticipation. They've won the Scot Prem now. So maybe whoever officiates this match will now be operating to a different agenda and the normal rules of footie!! One can only live in hope. Anyway, I hope JR deploys a tight midfield strategy similar to the last time we played them at Ibronx but don't show them too much respect. I wanna beat them and hopefully do it with a bit of style if we can manage it. But in order to do that we need to score the requisite goals. One thing I have perceived re Rangers is the fact they don't like playing Hibs. So keeping this game "tight" for as long as poss is imperative. If I had my way I'd ask our goalie to wear a skull cap just to "wind them up" that they didnae get away with that kinda head assault on a goalie but it took a Euro ref to finally send off one of their players, indeed two in the same match and they got stuffed unlike in Scot footie!! C'mon Hibs! Lets end their unbeaten run that has been complimented by a good number of dodgy Scottish referees this season!!

Worcestershire County Cricket Club
County Champions: 1964, 1965, 1974, 1988, 1989
One-Day Champions: 1991, 1994
T20 Champions: 2018
2021 Season
It's that wonderful time of year again. Peter's cathedral soars, Severn gleams blue and wide beyond the score-box, and with the fierce midday sun upon the ground, through heat-haze comes the wary sound of bat on ball. For the first time in two long years, springtime means county cricket, and when the revamped County Championship gets underway on Thursday, Worcestershire will be looking to continue their welcome red-ball revival in a fiercely competitive group.
After disastrous first-class campaigns in 2018 and 2019, the Pears made a real mark on the Bob Willis Trophy at the back end of 2020, remaining unbeaten until their final game and pushing a strong Somerset side the full distance for qualification. Having been prone to fragility in the batting line-up since the departure of Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Joe Clarke, at the heart of this welcome renaissance was a newfound resilience in the top order: Jake Libby proved an instant hit, top-scoring with 498 runs at an average of 55.33 - second only to Sir Alastair Cook in the entire competition - while fellow opener Daryl Mitchell supplied 384 at 42.66, former opener Brett D'Oliveira continued to flourish down the order with 367, and long-suffering number three Tom Fell finally notched his first century since recovering from cancer in a match-winning second-innings knock at Northants. Worcestershire will need this run-scoring to continue, and have therefore made just a couple of tweaks to the roster through the winter. Gareth Roderick arrives from Gloucestershire to slot in at three and deputise for star gloveman Ben Cox, who signed a contract extension in March. Dudley-born youngster Olly Westbury, a mainstay of the second XI, has now been deemed surplus to requirements, but the county are keeping faith with twenty-year-old stroke-player Jack Haynes following a promising season in which he recorded his first two first-class half-centuries, and made a decent start in all but one of his other cameos, averaging a very handy 40.71 in total.
With the ball in hand, Worcestershire's strength has for many years been a selection of highly competent medium-fast bowlers with strength in depth, and the county's weakness the lack of a true strike bowler who can find that bit of extra pace or guile to break a stubborn partnership when the game's slipping away. Skipper Joe Leach continued to set an example for the seam attack as top first-class wicket-taker for the Pears in 2020, though his average was considerably bettered by the ever-consistent Ed Barnard, who notched just one fewer wicket for an outstanding 21.66. With Charlie Morris and Josh Tongue also in contention, while youngsters Dillon Pennington and Adam Finch continue to shine in their occasional cameos, it seemed in the autumn that pace was no pressing concern. To that end, Wayne Parnell - unable to feature in 2020 due to international travel restrictions, and deprived of Kolpak status due to Brexit - was released. And following him out of the door, sadly, was young left-arm orthodox spinner Ben Twohig, whose years of apprenticeship under the great Norman Gifford never translated into a meaningful first-team impact. As the part-time leg-breaks of Dolly provided only a handful of wickets at an eye-watering average north of 40, and Moeen Ali continues to be a bit-part player due to foreign and international commitments, addressing the longstanding Achilles heel of spin was the order of the day at New Road, and accordingly the county spent a good chunk of the winter pursuing the signature of South African left-armer Keshav Maharaj to fill the gap. But fresh injury woes for Josh Tongue, who's set to miss the start of the season, led the Pears to feel that another frontline pace option to capitalise on springtime conditions was a must; so in addition to extending the contract of Academy youngster Mitchell Stanley, the club will be welcoming West Indian Test quick Alzarri Joseph for the first seven matches, before hopefully securing a spinner for the second half of the season.
With champions Essex up first, and a host of tough games to follow, Worcestershire will need to hit the ground running. But after last summer, there's at least a sense that good things may again be just around the corner. Come on you Pears.
