  Pre season friendlies 2021
Posted by: Lord Snooty - 10-07-2021, 17:33 - Forum: Huddersfield Town - Replies (21)

Off to a good start with a 1-0 win against Harrogate Town. Josh Koroma getting the goal, outpacing the defence and lobbing it over the keeper. Thumb up

Hibs v Arsenal on 13 July and some fans allowed in to ER Stadium!

Hibs looking to accommodate 6k Hibs fans for this glamour friendly match. However, only 2k fans allowed in to watch the match. I'm afraid the spectre of COVID is not gonna go away any time soon.

European Championships Prediction League 2021 - THE FINAL
Posted by: Lord Snooty - 07-07-2021, 23:49 - Forum: The European Championship "The Euros" - Replies (23)

2 points for a correct result
4 points for a correct score
2 points for each correct scorer
Correct joker doubles your score    Laugh
Wrong joker result gives you minus 2
Only one joker per round of games

Knockout stages:
In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties.

So now we are playing player against player instead of a league system. You may choose up to 3 scorers for each team from now on, even if you're predicting a 0-0 draw. You can, if you want to, predict that one of the players will score them all and you would score two points for each goal that person scores.

You can score one point for the half time score. You only get the point though if you get it spot on. No points for predicting 1-0 to the Engerland if it's 2-0

In case of a draw, the player who ranked highest in the group stage will be the winner.

I think we'll have a proper tie breaker for this one. Guessing the amount of corners in the match again seems a good idea. Then if that doesn't separate them, we'll go back to whoever finished highest in the group stage.

Minizin v jjamez

Sunday 11th July (20:00)
Italy v England
H-T score
Italy scorers:
England scorers:

Guess the amount of corners for the tie break:

  WHELAN GONE - MUTUAL
Posted by: Devongone - 07-07-2021, 17:54 - Forum: Chesterfield - No Replies

I didn't understand when we weren't playing him towards the end of last season. (And we didn't benefit from his absence IMO.)

I thought he might be one of our departures.

I can see no sense in this at all. Whaddya think?

I think one of our our rivals will snap him up.

If we'd have just signed Matty Kosylo from Altrincham I could understand it, but now we have to find someone better and that's someone with more goals in him from that sort of position - not easy.

My next guess is Kairo back to Kings Lynn - another error?

  Heads turned, hopes smahed

So it would appear, yet again, a stolen talent, with eyes and egos bigger than their talent, comes crashing down to earth.

Our academy players should watch and learn ......

Albion could be in for a surprise windfall as Manchester city look to sell Morgan Rogers to Crystal Palace.

In 2019 Morgan was on the verge of regular first team football with us, Man City came calling, off he pops, city reserves, one season on loan at Lincoln. Now looking like he may go to Palace, a club similar in size to us without the history, tradition or previous success. Could have just stayed with us, the club that nurtured him.

How many others, Izzy Brown, Chelsea ..... Barely played ... Where is he now
Memory lapse but the lad that went to Barcelona for 5 minutes 27 seconds before going to the seals.
Saido ... On verge of england, not quite academy but head turned, career to sh@@e, now realised the mistake he made wants to come home.

Academy players leaving good, honest clubs to go to the top six for status and money are just ruining their futures. Short term gain years of pain.

The charity football match has been rearranged to support the foundation, if anyone's interested.

  Freedom Day
Posted by: Amelia Chaffinch - 06-07-2021, 14:17 - Forum: Abstract Chat - Replies (53)

Just wondering how you feel about the lifting of all restrictions in England on the 19th July?

With rising cases even with some restrictions still in place, albeit with less deaths, I'm sure they'll rocket when Freedom Day comes round.

As someone who had to shield and then decided to retire in August (as I worked as a Pharmacy Dispenser, I felt I would always be at risk at work), I'll admit I'm scared about it. Of course, I'd like to return to normality but what is the point of what I did last year if I throw myself back in?!

I can't see that I'll go without a mask in public places and a full stadium worries me, not that we're likely to see that at our ground; for one thing, the underachievements of the last couple of seasons has dissuaded many from renewing! Added to that, like a lot of people nationwide, jobs have been lost and some people won't have the money to renew.

I am supposed to be going on a hen party on the 31st July. I'm not sure now. Whilst I have been going to coffee shops and garden centres, I haven't been in a pub. You just know that sense goes out of the window when booze is involved. I was taking a little confidence from the fact we were likely to have table service but I expect that will disappear on this "magical all is now ok with the world" Freedom Day. I suspect I'll be sending my apologies and back out.

Your thoughts on our brave new world?

Euros semi - Spain v Italy
Posted by: 0762 - 06-07-2021, 13:17 - Forum: The European Championship "The Euros" - Replies (5)

This is a curious semi-final between two Latin countries where the winner will be the most likely overall victor of this tourney after all the unforeseen incidents (where was Lady Luck when one needed her eh!) that have arisen and played a big part in taking out some of the top five countries. I'm sure Italy will be the bookies' favs to win it. However, nothing is certain in this particular tourney after observing so many unpredictable incidents and injuries that have clearly affected certain match results. I hope this Italian side "shows up" and confirms again how good a side they are as observed through most of this Euro tourney although there is no doubt Spain will not concede easily. It should be an excellent match tonight with a distinct contrast in styles of footie.

  Hibs 4 Dunfermline AFC 1 - pre-season prep begins!
Posted by: 0762 - 05-07-2021, 17:50 - Forum: Hibernian - No Replies

It is hard to believe that Scottish footie clubs like Hibs are already preparing for the new footie season plus Euro footie. But that is where we are as the start of season 2021-22 looms ever closer in mid July. This friendly match at the EMTC v the Pars certainly provided lotsa Hibs players with a worthwhile initial workout without it being too strenuous. Not a bad result and good to see Dom Mackay on the score sheet - long may it continue! But early days and more hard work to come as Hibs coaching staff gradually ramp up their efforts on the training program.
