  Lowe and Marsh
Posted by: themaclad - 07-12-2021, 18:15 - Forum: Preston North End - Replies (8)

Preston North End Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Ryan Lowe as first team manager. Ryan will take over with immediate effect, joining from Plymouth Argyle, a club he guided to promotion from League Two to League One in the 2019/20 season, and they currently sit fourth in the third tier. That was the second promotion on Ryan’s managerial CV, having previously led Bury FC into League One. We would like to place on record our thanks to Plymouth Argyle for the professional way in which they have handled this matter.

Gone down well with the Green Army

  Frankie goes
Posted by: themaclad - 06-12-2021, 23:14 - Forum: Preston North End - No Replies

Preston North End Football Club can confirm that Frankie McAvoy has left his position as head coach.

Frankie stepped in earlier this year to assist us, initially in an interim role, before taking up the position of head coach. His first eight games at the end of last season were a huge success but this season we have struggled for consistency. Ultimately it is a results business and results to date have not met our expectations, we have therefore decided to make a change at this time.

Frankie is an honest, hard-working person who deserves to succeed and he leaves us with our grateful thanks and best wishes for the future. He will always be welcome back at Deepdale at any time.

The club will now look to appoint a new manager to take the club forward and a further update will be provided in due course.

Current Hibs transfer activity - Chris Mueller signed up!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Mueller_(soccer)

This is an interesting early transfer move by Hibs. Mueller, an experienced and highly rated winger, happy to ply his trade at ER Stadium. Watch this space - could potentially be a vg signing by Hibs with Ron Gordon undoubtedly involved.

THE MATCH

TUESDAY 7TH DECEMBER KO 7:045M

LAST MATCH

Well a game we should have won tbh, but found a way not to (AGAIN). We were quickly behind when Paterson deflected a wayward shot. There was a delay after a incident in the North Stand and in the ensuing injury time we equalized when Shodipo fired high into the net. We took the lead after the break when Windass finished from just outside the box, though there keeper should have done better. But they levelled direct from a free kick, it was a decent strike but maybe BPF could have done better.

THE MATCH

Next up and we head down south to take on Pompey. Pompey had a tough start to the season but have made up for it recently winning 5 out of 6 and now just below us in 9th position. Marcus Harness is there leading scorer with 9 goals, they also have Marquis who used to play for Donny. They are managed by the Cowley brothers, who have been linked with us in the past when looking for a new manager. I expect them to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season, will we be there with them??

HTAFC Prediction League 2021/22 Matchday 20
Posted by: Lord Snooty - 05-12-2021, 23:31 - Forum: Huddersfield Town - Replies (14)

2 points for a correct result
4 points for a correct score
2 points for each correct scorer
Correct joker doubles your score   Laugh
Wrong joker result gives you minus 2
Correct Random Badger gives you 2 points Badger

The random badger Badger is used for any random prediction used once in each matchday sequence. For instance, a scorer at a particular match, the number of red cards in the matches or yellow cards or own goals or owt you want really within reason, I do need to be able to check whether it's correct or not. Please don't put stuff like....."Commentator says...."  Rolleyes
The joker  Laugh is played for one match in each sequence and if correct you get double points. So if you've predicted 1-0 and it finishes 2-0, you get 4 pts, but if you've predicted 2-0, that's 8 pts. But if you get it wrong, it's minus 2.
Jokers and badgers are optional. You don't have to play one if you don't want.

Cup games:
In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties. Similarly with the badger, if your random prediction is affected by this, it'll be half the points.

Random score generator: I will be using the random score generator again for those who miss predicting, so we shouldn't get some people too far behind that after missing a couple of weeks they lose all interest, because I know it's not easy getting on here every week.
To be fair to everybody, this is going to be like, say if three people in one week miss their predictions, the first one in the table will be given all 0-0, the second one down the line will get 1-0 and the third will get 0-1 and so on, like if there's four missing the 4th will get 1-1, then 5th 2-1, 6th 1-2. and if there are so many missing, might as well pack in. Wink
And if you miss two weeks on the trot, I'll stop until you come back on again. Not doing it for half a season like I did t'other year.  Rolleyes

NEW FOR THIS SEASON: End of season Play Offs.

The one who finishes top of the league will still be champion, but after the season finishes there will be Play Offs between the top 4, with 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd. This will take in stuff like the EFL Play Offs, FA Cup Final, final day of Prima Donna League, European Finals etc. It will be one matchday for the semis and one for the Final. It will be the individual scores for each matchday against the allotted opponent, with some kind of tie breaker for a drawn match.
So last season's matches would've been Baggiebob(BBB) v theo_luddite and jjamez v St Charles Owl and would've given a bit more to play for towards the back end of the season.
The prize for winning will be enormous. Another rep point. Whistle

We now have an Appeals Committee set up, consisting of me, myself and I. All appeals must be made before the next Matchday kicks off.

Saturday 11th December:
Town v Coventry (12:30)
Town scorers:
Coventry scorers:

Birmingham City v Cardiff City
AFC Bournemouth v Blackburn Rovers
Derby County v Blackpool
Hull City v Bristol City
Luton Town v Fulham
Peterborough United v Millwall
Preston North End v Barnsley
Stoke City v Middlesbrough
Swansea City v Nottingham Forest
West Bromwich Albion v Reading

Monday 13th December:
Sheffield United v Queens Park Rangers

Table after Matchday 19:

  1. Baggiebob(BBB) = 494 pts
  2. theo_luddite = 441 pts
  3. jjamez = 430 pts
  4. Lord Snooty = 422 pts
  5. St Charles Owl = 422 pts
  6. themaclad = 418 pts
  7. neonfoxinthebox = 411 pts
  8. SHEP_HTAFC = 393 pts
  9. WakeyTerrier = 379 pts
  10. ritchiebaby = 362 pts
  11. Amelia Chaffinch = 330 pts

Livingston v Hibs, Wed 8 December, KO 7.45pm
Posted by: 0762 - 05-12-2021, 19:48 - Forum: Hibernian - Replies (9)

Well this is another match on a shit artificial pitch that I'm not looking forward to TBH! I'd ban these pitches if I had my way and I'm not the only person to take this extreme view re footie pitches that affect the way that players play and certain players actually playing/moving tentatively to avoid injury. Anyway, it is what it is and hopefully Hibs/JR can select a side that can adapt reasonably well to play on this pitch. Livingston played today and apparently played reasonably well albeit losing to one of very few shots on their goal. I'll take a win, any win, to lift the team and Hibs fans. Anything above that, a good performance on this pitch, will be a bonus. Fingers crossed we avoid any bad injuries. C'mon Hibs! "Show up" and test out "tired legs" - hi-press and try to win this match!

Dundee United 0 Celtic 3 - the Hoops in sparkling form!
Posted by: 0762 - 05-12-2021, 16:35 - Forum: Celtic - Replies (2)

Still profligate in front of the opposition goal as the final result could've been a 0-6 or 0-7 thrashing and it would've been a totally deserved scoreline as Celtic's creation of scoring opps reached double figures this afternoon with about 75% possession in the 1st half. Rogic opening the scoring with a "worldy" goal (watch for this goal in tv highlights - it's a terrific piece of skill) and definitely the MOTM by a country mile. Turnbull scoring the second goal just before HT, but missing so many easy scoring opps TBF!! Scales coming on in the 2nd half and scoring his 1st goal for the club. All in all, a good day's work for the Hoops and now 4 pts behind Rangers again.
