2 points for a correct result
4 points for a correct score
2 points for each correct scorer
Correct joker doubles your score
Wrong joker result gives you minus 2
Correct Random Badger gives you 2 points
The random badger is used for any random prediction used once in each matchday sequence. For instance, a scorer at a particular match, the number of red cards in the matches or yellow cards or own goals or owt you want really within reason, I do need to be able to check whether it's correct or not. Please don't put stuff like....."Commentator says...."
The joker is played for one match in each sequence and if correct you get double points. So if you've predicted 1-0 and it finishes 2-0, you get 4 pts, but if you've predicted 2-0, that's 8 pts. But if you get it wrong, it's minus 2.
Jokers and badgers are optional. You don't have to play one if you don't want.
Cup games:
In the event of a draw, it's half the points if you've predicted a draw when it gets to 90 mins and the full points if it's still a draw after extra time. Half the points will be awarded for correctly predicting the winner of the match if it goes to penalties. Similarly with the badger, if your random prediction is affected by this, it'll be half the points.
Random score generator: I will be using the random score generator again for those who miss predicting, so we shouldn't get some people too far behind that after missing a couple of weeks they lose all interest, because I know it's not easy getting on here every week.
To be fair to everybody, this is going to be like, say if three people in one week miss their predictions, the first one in the table will be given all 0-0, the second one down the line will get 1-0 and the third will get 0-1 and so on, like if there's four missing the 4th will get 1-1, then 5th 2-1, 6th 1-2. and if there are so many missing, might as well pack in.
And if you miss two weeks on the trot, I'll stop until you come back on again. Not doing it for half a season like I did t'other year.
NEW FOR THIS SEASON: End of season Play Offs.
The one who finishes top of the league will still be champion, but after the season finishes there will be Play Offs between the top 4, with 1st v 4th and 2nd v 3rd. This will take in stuff like the EFL Play Offs, FA Cup Final, final day of Prima Donna League, European Finals etc. It will be one matchday for the semis and one for the Final. It will be the individual scores for each matchday against the allotted opponent, with some kind of tie breaker for a drawn match.
So last season's matches would've been Baggiebob(BBB) v theo_luddite and jjamez v St Charles Owl and would've given a bit more to play for towards the back end of the season.
The prize for winning will be enormous. Another rep point.
We now have an Appeals Committee set up, consisting of me, myself and I. All appeals must be made before the next Matchday kicks off.
Sunday 26th December:

Madeley of the Athletic says we are after Woodrow and Dike. Rumour has it Woodrow deal is close with both Barnsley, Albion and Woodrow want the deal and the only thing to be agreed on is the fee. This should not be negotiable as he has 18 months left on his contract.
The Dike deal more difficult as a high loan fee and a high transfer fee are muted. Well we will see only 2 weeks until the transfer window starts.

So yesterday saw the draw for the 2022 Nations League. UEFA are yet to confirm if a route via this comp to Euro24 in Germany but given I think it has been a success in the eyes of many countries I would expect them to have some play offs at the back end to qualify.
So who have the home Nations got?
Lets start in Group C where Northern Ireland have been drawn against Greece, Kosovo and either Cyprus/Estonia. Some cracking trips in June and September of next year for the Green and White Army
Now up to Group B where Scotland have been drawn to face Ukraine, Rep Of Ireland and Armenia . A mixed bag for the Tartan Army to visit, i don't envy the long trip to Armenia.
Then we move onto Group A where both England and Wales could've been drawn together.
Lets start with the Welsh who have been drawn against Belgium,Holland and Poland. Wales will do well to avoid the trap door in that group.
Finally England who have Italy, Germany and Hungary. Probably the the toughest group in A
England kick off away to Hungary at the start of June but Hungary have been ordered to play behind closed doors(or a stadium full of kids to get round the rules.
Three days later it's a trip to somewhere in Germany(hoping it's Munich)
4 Days after that its back on home soil for a repeat of the Euro20 final England v Italy. Again another game behind closed doors as a result of all the trouble around the ground at that final
Then on the following Tuesday its England v Hungary, that was fairly lively in the away section on the last visit.
We then have a break until September when Italy have home advantage over England on Friday 23rd followed by another classic on Mon 26th for England v Germany.
Elsewhere some cracking Fixtures.
Spain v Portugal
Sweden v Norway
Feel free to add Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland fixtures as they are announced

| DAN ARCHER RIP |

I took out a funeral plan last week. Hearing that Dan Archer had died made me feel even older.
He couldn't run worth a damn. He didn't need to. His job was to pull the strings from the centre of midfield.
He had good ball skills and he could tackle when he wanted, but Dan Archer was about passing. He could spot a pass and play a pass better than anyone I've seen in a Chesterfield shirt. Long ball, or a delicate little ball threaded into the area, Dan Archer was the master.
He made Jim McGuigan's team tick and McGuigan knew it. He didn't expect things from Archer he couldn't do and simply delighted when he cracked in a goal from long range, or found a pass that opened up an opposition that had been defending stoutly.
At our level Dan Archer was a Gerson, he would run the game and the ref' too if he could get away with it.
I'm so old I played cricket against him a couple of times when I was young. He wasn't bad even though he liked to walk singles rather than run them. I wish I'd had the courage to tell him what every Chesterfield fan thought of him.
When we were challenging for the Fourth Division title our coach took us near the ground at Crewe before parking. Less than an hour before kick off and there was Dan and two of our other star players tucking into bags of chips. A modern manager would have a conniption fit, but come kick off Dan was there running the game, directing play, and we won easy.
Makes you think ..... there's being super-fit and being fit to play a game. Look at cricket, take a look at the number of overs Statham and Trueman would get through in a day or a season and compare it to the injury-ravaged bowlers of today. Dan Archer was a player of that same old school. Measure the yards he ran. Count the times he sprinted. You'd think he might as well have stayed in the changing room. But look who'd run the game, look at the player the opposition couldn't get to grips with and there you'd see Dan Archer.
You were a hero Dan Archer.

| Ross Co 1 Celtic 2 - the Hoops still "hanging in there" in the last secs of a match!! |

Celtic initially taking the lead in the 1st half after having well over 70% possession and just under 20 shots on the County goal, but not "putting the game to bed". Then the dreaded equaliser arises followed by Starfelt's second yellow card - more refereeing decisions with no common sense attached to them! This weakened Hoops' side clearly "playing for their manager" and still battling this game with ten men until, hey presto - Ralston, a hugely improved Scottish and Celtic full back, scores a precious winning goal in the 97th minute from an exquisite cross ball by none other than subby, Tom Rogic, again. How valuable a "strike" will that become at the end of the season and after reinforcements are brought in by Ange in January??
