I stand by what I said, luck has nothing to do with where we are at right now. As others have said I am very angry at this point in time. These clowns earn more in a week than most of us do in a year, or two. The pure arrogance of pardew, Evans, Barry, Livermore, and myhill is staggering. They have no idea how much we as fans are hurting just so long as they pick up their over inflated wage packets. The rot started with pulis and has spread with pardew.
The owner has started his clearout at board level and now needs to do it at coaching and player level.

Not sure you watched the same game I did.

I'm an optimist deep down, but we were so leggy in midfield there was only ever going to be one result after that first half performance.

Absolutely dire.

You sound like a Liverpool fan now!!!! Whistle
I disagree with the posters who say we couldn't attract Marco Silva. I don't think we could get him on a long term deal, obviously he's not going to want to manage in the Championship. But we could get him on a short term deal until the summer.

He's not going to get another job before the summer and he can't possibly do his reputation any harm by taking on the job here. If he was to miraculously keep us up, he would enhance his reputation no end. If we were to go down, he could simply write it off as a formality.

For me it's essential we get him in now. We need an injection to beat Huddersfield next week and he would be the perfect appointment with Watford away beckoning. How often do we see sacked managers go and do over their previous employers. Pardew simply can't get the lads up for it, if we keep him, we're effectively resigning to being relegated already.

He already has one relegation on his resume, one that he was able to write off because Hull improved so much, but I can’t see there being any chance he would do that again, especially not with you guys being a bit adrift at the bottom and with Everton maybe coming back in for him in the summer!! He simply doesn’t need to take the risk of being blamed for the slightest thing with another club after the criticism he has recieved after the Watford situation, plus he has been fully paid out so money won’t work either.
Some of Pardew's decisions are just baffling. As someone else said, why is Macauley being left behind at corners? Why did Brunt not start, particularly as Gibbs is injured and Brunt creates most of our goals? Why did Barry and Phillips stay on the pitch for so long? Phillips in particular was poor, and looks overweight to me.
On the plus side, I thought the crowd were good today despite having very little to cheer about. McLean was excellent and I think he could do a job for us next year in the Champ. Rondon was probably trying too hard at times, popping up on the wing and dropping deep like Rooney used to do, but his goal was an absolute boster. And I've just seen the draw and S'ton are away at Man City next round.
Phillips looks like a bottler to me. He's arguably one of our best footballers on form, but has been a waste of time since the going got tough. When you're not on form, you need to have the fight to at least put a shift in, he hasn't got that in his locker.

I really don't like watching McClean as I much prefer tricky wingers who can slide a pass through rather than kick and run merchants. But you have to say, in the dogfight, I'd pick McClean over Phillips all day long. At least he's got energy, wins possession and never gives up. Phillips was hiding today and should've been hauled off after 60 minutes for Burke.

But, as usual, Pardew picks the subs out of a hat.

Bringing on Field for Krychowiak when we're chasing the game was mind boggling. The Brunt sub was about the only decision that made sense, as Barry was garbage, but Brunt should've started at left back anyway. As for McAuley and Hegazi not being in the box for set plays - I've already had my whinge about that.
First half was woeful. 2nd better but Barry is a waste of space and what Phillips did to justify 88 minutes on the pitch is beyond me. Hegazi, Greg and Rondon were a class apart and Mcclean improved after his usual headless chicken act in the first half. It's easy to blame Pardew - and in my view, though he's an improvement on Pulis he doesn't seem brave enough - but the players seem to be getting away with it far too easily.
