Grimsby Town midfielder Evan Khouri has extended his deal until the end of the 2025-26 season.

The 20-year-old made his Mariners against Morecambe in September 2020 at the age of 17.

The former West Ham trainee, who is currently out with an ankle injury, made 22 appearances last season.

"To get the backing of the gaffer with being offered this deal is great and really important to have that security as well," he told BBC Radio Humberside.

"I've got to prove to the gaffer that I'm better than whoever he brings in and I'm worth a starting place.

"I'm just hoping to build as a person and a character on and off the field and play as many games as possible."

Tharme, 24, has signed a contract until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Wood, 21, spent time with League of Ireland side Shelbourne in 2023, while Obikwu, 19, is yet to make his professional debut.

All three could feature against Notts County in League Two on Saturday.

Grimsby Town have signed midfielder Curtis Thompson from Cheltenham Town and Portsmouth defender Denver Hume on free transfers.

The Mariners have also recruited full-back Liam Smith, 27, from Cheltenham on loan until the end of the season.

Thompson, 30, who played 22 games for the Robins this season, has signed an 18-month deal.

Hume, 25, has joined until the end of the season following his release from Pompey, where he played 31 games.

Hume began his professional career at Sunderland, playing 84 games and scoring three goals for the Black Cats before moving to Portsmouth in January 2022.

Thompson began his career with Leicester City and had spells at Notts County, Lincoln City and Wycombe Wanderers, amassing 282 appearances in all.

Smith had played 15 times for Cheltenham after moving south last summer from relegated Scottish Premiership side Dundee United, where he had played more than 100 games.

The Mariners have had a busy window, with Blackpool defender Doug Tharme signed for an undisclosed fee and Hull midfielder Harry Wood and Coventry striker Jordan Obikwu arriving on loan until the end of the season.

Most recently, Kamil Conteh joined on a permanent basis from Bristol Rovers as manager David Artell looks to keep the club away from relegation trouble in the fourth tier.

Gavan Holohan and Abo Eisa head a list of 11 players set to leave Grimsby Town this summer.

Holohan, 32, had the most assists this season, while Eisa, with nine goals, was second top scorer behind Danny Rose.

Midfielder Kieran Green has been given an extended contract, with 12 other players retained from last season by head coach David Artell.

Discussions remain ongoing with a trio of players - Harry Clifton, Denver Hume and Callum Ainley - over new deals.

The Mariners finished 21st in League Two, just seven points clear of relegation.

Signed from Hartlepool United in March 2022, Holohan made 12 appearances that season as Grimsby climbed back into the EFL via the National League play-offs at Wembley.

Since then, he played 95 times, scoring 12 goals, with his last game coming in the 2-0 win over Swindon Town that secured Grimsby's place in League Two for another season.
