In my opinion a sizeable minority of football fans cannot be trusted to behave responsibly. It doesn't come down to sentiments about religion, the monarchy or independence, it comes down to a complete lack of respect for others with a different point of view.

My wife commented she'd have more trust in rugby fans behaving properly than footie fans - cannot be trusted because of that "sizeable minority" who she regards as cretons and have tarnished football for donkey's years. She has no interest in footie whatsoever btw. It is interesting how that negative perception is still pervasive amongst other people unrelated to the sport.
