Danny Searle has been given the Ebbsfleet United manager's job.

Searle was handed the job on an interim basis after the sacking of Dennis Kutrieb a fortnight ago.

With assistant Anwar Uddin also appointed, Searle has overseen draws against leaders Chesterfield and promotion hopefuls Oldham.

A club statement said "performances against Oldham Athletic and Chesterfield are an excellent platform" to build from.

Searle is a former assistant head coach at Czech club Banik Ostrava and has worked at Waterford, Witham Town and Aldershot after receiving a degree in football management from Liverpool University.

Kutrieb was sacked on January 29 after a run of two wins in nine league games had left The Fleet in the relegation zone.

The club statement added: "The Uefa pro-licensed coach is fully up to speed with the Fleet squad and has already made great strides at the Kuflink Stadium as the team head into the final third of the league season".

Ebbsfleet are currently 23rd in the National League table, five points above bottom-placed Oxford City.

Ebbsfleet have sacked manager Dennis Kutrieb after falling into the National League relegation zone.

The 44-year-old German led The Fleet to the National League South title with 103 points last season.

Saturday's defeat at bottom side Oxford City was their 17th in 31 games and they are three points off the foot with rivals having games in hand.

A club statement said it had been a "difficult decision" to remove him after more than three years in the job.

"Heading into a crucial final three months of the campaign, the club's number-one priority is to maintain our status in the division," the statement added.

"Such decisions are never easy to make, especially off the back of such a remarkable and record-breaking previous season, but the status of the football club must always take priority and be foremost when making these big decisions."

First-team coach Chris Franks has also left the Kent club.

Former Liverpool winger Jordon Ibe has joined National League club Ebbsfleet.

The 27-year-old has made 119 Premier League appearances and featured in the Europa League while at Anfield.

The former England Under-21s player spent four years at Liverpool, making 41 appearances, and had loan spells with Birmingham and Derby before a move to Bournemouth and a spell in Turkey.

"I just want to get back out there, show people what I can do again and play football," he said.

Ibe was an unused substitute on Saturday as Ebbsfleet drew with Slough in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

He was just 15 when he made his English Football League (EFL) debut for Wycombe in 2011. After signing for Liverpool the following year, he made his Premier League debut aged 18.

In 2021 Ibe spoke out about how he had been in a "dark place" and suffering from depression.

He told the Ebbsfleet website: "I've worked hard to be in a position where I am able to focus on football and believe in myself and my ability to contribute on the pitch.

"Being back out there is where I love to be and where I'm most happy but I needed to be healthy and prepared to give myself that chance. The way Ebbsfleet have helped me and put a process in place so I can be ready has been really supportive."

Fleet boss Dennis Kutrieb added: "This is a signing that will generate a lot of discussion outside our club but for us and for Jordon it is only about Ebbsfleet United and getting him back on the pitch to show us what we know he can do.

"Like many of us in our club and the world generally, Jordon has had his personal battles and setbacks, but he has made brave decisions to talk about those issues, made a genuine effort to seek assistance and applied tools daily to improve his overall health."
