OR time to cast off the "dead wood" and find a team of vg players and guys who are "triers"/don't give up easily. The Brentford manager admitting this game should never be 4-0 based on the stats and what happened in "open play". However, it was 4-0 and this follows the simple fact that ten Hag has not been able to sign the targeted players who he wanted and leaning toward a number of Dutch signings. I still don't like de Gea (the guy "flogged" today's match v Brentford - two giveaway early goals 1 and 2 and he was a total car crash goalie AGAIN!!!) and was very surprised they never made a move for Casper Schmeichel before Nice "snapped him up"! As for Maguire? I can't be bothered debating his position any more, criticised him enough long before this season ever started!! Rashford and McTominay should both be moved on as well - not good enough, IMO Rashford couldn't turn the match v Brighton last week with goals he should've scored from great scoring positions!! In reality, ten Hag has no solid "spine" through his new Man U side and started their first match at OT with a "false number nine" up front - not impressive at all!! And then tried to make a move for Arnautovic who is currently playing in Israel?? This guy is never close to being a proper Man U CF IMO!! Looks like lotsa work coming up for the Dutch coach or the "red devils" could end up being relegated if they are not too careful. No doubt more protests coming against the Glazer brothers who never react to it, but still "suck out" huge amounts of money from the club.

Harsh but fair in my opinion

The BBC has apologised after a message appeared on the news channel saying "Manchester United are rubbish".

The text mistakenly popped up on the news ticker at the bottom of the screen during a tennis update just after 0930 on Tuesday.

Later in the morning, presenter Annita Mcveigh apologised to any Manchester United fans who may have been offended.

She said the mistake had occurred as someone was learning how to operate the ticker and was "writing random things".

Another message which appeared on the ticker read simply: "Weather rain everywhere."

Mcveigh told viewers: "A little earlier, some of you may have noticed something pretty unusual on the ticker that runs along the bottom of the screen with news making a comment about Manchester United, and I hope that Manchester United fans weren't offended by it.

"Let me just explain what was happening: behind the scenes, someone was training to learn how to use the ticker and to put text on the ticker, so they were just writing random things not in earnest and that comment appeared.

"So apologies if you saw that and you were offended and you're a fan of Manchester United.

"But certainly that was a mistake and it wasn't meant to appear on the screen. So that was what happened, we just thought we'd better explain that to you."

An official BBC statement added: "There was a technical glitch during training with our test ticker, which rolled over to live programming for a few seconds.

"We apologised for any offence caused on air."

BBC presenter and Manchester City fan Clive Myrie tweeted he "had nothing to do with this!!" with the hashtag MCFC, after City won the Premier League title on Sunday.

So ETH confirmed to be leaving Ajax and take on the biggest challenge of his footie career. I hope he insists on bringing in his choice of player and relegates Man U's corporate policy of not doing that. Chuck that method in the bin as it doesn't work! I can see a mass clear-out by him if he's "worth his salt" as a fully-focused, tough manager who demands commitment and results. It wouldn't surprise me if he tries to impose a "boot-room culture" with past Man Utd stalwarts brought back in to engender the requisite standards of a Man Utd player. It will prob be a long haul of recovery, but United definitely have the money to possibly cut down the time - all down to persuading and bringing in top players who have the desired qualities to excel at OT. Interesting times ahead and a small "ray of light" on the quest to return to higher standards and success.

I watched this game in disbelief re a Man U side facing the Foxes who haven't won a game in their last four fixtures. OGS has been around the club as manager for a good period and really should've "rubber-stamped" his own brand of footie on one of the top favourite footie clubs on the planet. Yet they look like they have lost their identity - well beaten by a team that showed more passion and commitment to winning a match. They were well set up and "geared to win" compared with a United side that showed none of these qualities. Man Utd should have a top quality pedigree manager who can deliver what the board and fans really want - proper success and much less of these "random accidents" that always appear to be "hovering on the horizon" for Solskjaer's team. Reading Pogba's "withering criticism" of OGS and I suspect a more reputable and tough manager would likely "ditch" him as I still think he is a problem to the proper functionality of the team. OGS has had lotsa time to change this whole team for the better, esp the defensively frail bits. He hasn't done that!! I think he must know that the "end of the road" is coming into sight as these duff results never seem to go away.

I can't believe this latest cock-up up by what looked like an experimental starting line up - why do it now OGS??? Such an important final group match v a Bundesligue side that United "hammered" 5-0 in the 1st leg!!!!!!!! And yet he didn't field his strongest team?? As for the result? What does he expect when the team only plays for 20 mins of the match!!! Didn't deserve a positive result TBF and both United's goals fortuitous!! Lastly, I must critically comment AGAIN re United's goalie, De Gea - what an embarrassment of a goalie in losing that crucial RBL 3rd goal - HE DIDN'T WANNA GET HURT, SHOULD'VE BLOCKED THE SHOT BUT OPTED FOR PROTECTING HIS GOOD HEALTH - a shocker at a crucial stage of the match when, OK, Maguire misread the "run of the ball" in allowing the ball to pass him but De Gea could've "bailed him out" but chose not to. Paul Scholes thankfully "not taking any prisoners" on BT Sport and calling it as it is - "He didn't wanna get hurt, he 'bottled' it"!!! Absolutely right Paul. I'd additionally comment, "Ohhh if we could only 'put the clock back' to the time when United had the opportunity to sign Casper Schmeichel, a Man United fan as well!!. It wouldn't be perfect but United would've been be in a better place now with such a reliable and accountable goalie"!!! What a failure in judgement! We must get rid of De Gea asap as said in a previous thread questioning this guy's ability to perform and millions lost again due to another needless non-quali performance. IMO OGS should've risked playing the young lad, Dean Henderson, in goal but clearly not brave enough to "do a SAF" and play him.
United defensively weak, the manager consistently making mistakes and the Pogba situ also needs to be resolved - a joke with a joke agent!!

Gary Neville got it right last week when he previously remarked in Paris that he had no idea what United team was gonna show up v PSG. Then United won and played well while I thought PSG were actually poor on the night. Today United returned to their normal home dross in a boring "bounce match" and deserved to lose again, this time a stupid and needless pk conceded by Pogba who can add another useless performance in a red shirt to his CV. That is four consecutive home defeats for United and it must be a club record???
Gary Neville got it right last week when he previously remarked in Paris that he had no idea what United team was gonna show up v PSG. Then United won and played well while I thought PSG were actually poor on the night. Today United returned to their normal home dross in a boring "bounce match" and deserved to lose again, this time a stupid and needless pk conceded by Pogba who can add another useless performance in a red shirt to his CV. That is four consecutive home defeats for United and it must be a club record??? This alarming situ cannot be acceptable for much longer and I'll be surprised if OGS is retained unless they start "getting their act together" asap.
One of the great characters of United's first European Cup winning team of 1968 v Benfica at Wembley Stadium and of course played a big part in England's only World Cup win in 1966 at the same venue - a toothless terrier of a player who certainly "gave his all" for club and country.
After observing this "weird match" from 30 secs onwards after United scored the 1st goal from the pen spot, I must say the embarrassing events that followed were totally unacceptable from a United fan's perspective. No structure, no commitment, no passion and no pride in "playing for the shirt". All records broken for goals lost in their 1st three games of the season. Sure, Martial's red card was a factor in making this thrashing happen (I hope Lamela is retrospectively punished by the FA for his delayed dramatic collapse after being the offending party to "pull" Martial's reaction!) but Maguire was an absolute numpty in United's defence and has OGS not realised yet that Bailly's career is over at OT due to incurring too many bad injuries????? He replaced Lindelof in the starting line up and he is not good enough either but he'll be quietly chuckling after watching that nightmare by both CBs!! Pogba's concession of the 6th goal to a pk was absolutely infuriating mainly because of his smiley reaction after it and the fact he needlessly gave away the pen by not remaining on his feet!!!! Ultimately OGS picked the team, OGS has a part to play in engendering team spirit, OGS has a part to play in ensuring fitness levels are "up to scratch". He picked the wrong team!! Team spirit looks non-existent!! There is still a good number of United players who are still unfit since that humiliating result v Crystal Palace at OT! Also the matter of fact attitudes from him and a good number of players is not good enough TBF - one can understand why United stalwarts like Keane and Evra are going apoplectic after watching this shit!! Therefore OGS really must move on!! I don't believe he is the man to manage United any more. One never likes to remove a manager so early in the season but I just think this is a final confirmation that United need somebody who can motivate and manage this team far more effectively than him.

How United lost this 3rd semi-final in a row is absolutely beyond me and that will make this defeat even more sickening from the players' and fans' point of view. So many scoring chances and OK, the Sevilla goalie "played a blinder" but United should've still won this match with a bit to spare. And that winning goal? I finally concur that Maguire and Lindelöf are not good enough for United. Poss ditch one or other, or both, and buy some really good central defenders who do not lose these kinda soft goals.

United really look more n more like a top side and I expect that great unbeaten run to continue tonight v Southampton - amazing how confidence can sweep through a winning team in the way it has materialised with Bruno Fernandes at the forefront of this great run of form and Pogba becoming part of that "good feeling" as well!! Great stuff!
